The car is chrome-sleek, one of those new models powered almost entirely by solar energy, with even flight takeoff handled by expelling clean hydrogen. She dimly remembers a time when she would have been delighted about the whole thing, remembers when she was fourteen and had begged her aunt to convert to gasless energy and been rejected with a sneer. It is an old memory, a desire that has been colored by time and age, but she is impressed despite herself. “So, what do you think?” he asks, when she gets into the car. She shrugs. “It’s a car.” She keeps her voice flat but is unable to keep her hands from sweepin

Meiguo Zhizhao (Made in American), speech revision
At five, I take my first step into an American classroom. I remember discussions about “language proficiency,” about whether I am “suited” for regular classes. I remember long days spent away from the classroom with a language instructor because the English taught to me by American teachers in Taiwan was considered imperfect—broken. I remember the impatience at writing the same sentences over and over again, even though I understood every word, every gesture, of my classmates and teachers. I remember learning about the nuance and beauty of the English language at school while listening to news reports about U.S.

hell is empty
He wakes, and— (i can’t breathe) —his throat burns ice-cold. (i can’t breathe) He claws—claws, claws, claws—his way through layers of dirt, of worms and filth, and the first thing he sees is Dear Brutus, gleaming dark-red on the ground. He thinks of dying rituals as he vomits.

The Sparrow
Even climbing a mountain, Ari is not the least bit out of breath. She’s walking in front, swinging the two-hundred-pound cooler like a picnic basket and singing Who Killed Cock Robin? From behind, Devin struggles to keep up. The shovel in his hands keeps slipping, and his muscles are sore from wrestling it. His breathing is noticeably short. When Ari finally signals a stop, he’s overcome with relief. Then, she points to the ground and says, “Six holes.” Of course she wants him to do it. He suppresses a sigh and puts the shovel to earth and digs.

This is (not) the Entire Story
Time loops are such a cliché. Seriously, after experiencing March 15, 2013 twenty-three times, you kind of start realizing that this whole time loop thing is actually pointless and boring as fuck, and that it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with the universe being an absolute dick. Yes, I am in a time loop. In case that wasn’t clear. Why? I have no fucking clue. I didn’t die, or kill anyone. (I think.) I just woke up one day, experienced some intense déjà vu, and bam! I was in a time loop. That’s it. That’s the story. No, really. There’s not much else to it. And the unive

“I’m an English major.” And English is the language of conquest. * At five, she takes her first step into an American classroom. There are discussions about “language proficiency” and days spent with special instructors who believed that the English taught to her by American teachers in Taiwan was “imperfect”—broken. She begins appreciating the beauty of the English language at the same time America begins its conflict with Iraq. “I want Americans and all the world to know that coalition forces will make every effort to spare innocent civilians from harm,” George W. Bush promises

Of the Sea, Where We Are Born
My brother is a God. "The God of the Sea," he tells me, with a smile. - My parents had found him, years ago, floating peacefully in the ocean—a child, eight or nine at most. According to them, he suffers from amnesia. According to my brother, he has never forgotten anything at all. "I told them I was a God," he says, laughing, "and they all shook their heads and looked very sad and solemn." My brother has a very beautiful laugh, akin to the pulsing, beating melody of the sea. - My brother is a God. The God of the Ocean. - When I am seven and my brother is maybe fourteen, maybe fifteen, he takes me to the sea. "Look," he says,

Umbrella Boy, Lost Girl - ONE
My sister was perfect. Was. - My sister was probably the most beautiful person in the whole world, I thought, and she was definitely the kindest. Simply put, I adored my sister. She was a bright, shining beacon in my dull, gray life. She was my sun, while I was the dirt that she was generous enough to shine on. Simply put, I was average. Absolutely, completely average. - I became an eighth grader in autumn. My sister left this world in autumn. - The autumn of my eighth grade year was an ironically cold autumn, I remember. The rain had been unrelenting, harsh. It pounded on our roofs and turned the road into a slippery mess. My si

The Measure of Life - Part 1
Nowadays, she often wakes up in the middle of the night, cold sweat staining her sheets, mouth open in a silent scream. Sometimes, she also finds that her eyes are wet with unshed tears and her hands clenched so tightly together that it hurt. It is only at those times that she feels sick, absolutely and irrefutably sick. And, it is at those times that she would head to the bathroom, close her eyes, and puke right into the sink. Afterwards, she stays there for a long time, simply sputtering, as if trying to cough up her entire soul--what is left of it, anyway. The last thought she has as she washes the vomit down the drain is always the sam

Spiral - Surely, Hope
Hizumi finds Ayumu at the piano, as he always seems to be now. It disturbs him, to see Ayumu so focused, so intent on a goal. It reminds Hizumi of himself before he realized--before he came face to face with true despair. But, there is a difference. Ayumu had already met with despair and yet, even so... "Hey," Hizumi greets, cheerfully. It is more of habit now than otherwise--being cheerful, that is. "How're you doing?" Ayumu doesn't stop playing, as if he had not heard. Of course, Hizumi knows better. They had been through this before; Ayumu never began talking until he finished the song. Finally, "Nothing has changed since the last tim

IT'S DECEMBER WHERE DID THE TIME GO???
And yeah I'm here because I have like two essays due this week that I haven't started oops. Hahaha.

TUTU CUPCAKES. Wow, that's a nostalgic name. C': Hey, wait, are those posts still floating around dA somewhere?? SHOULD I GO AND SEARCH THEM UP?? Have ALL of our conversations been recorded for all eternity??? IS THIS THE TRUE MAGIC OF THE INTERNET?? :O

Oh my gosh, I was actually being metaphorical with the kids thing BUT WE WERE KIDS. I'M 20 NOW OH MY GOSH. I'm practically an ADULT???? WHAT HAS HAPPENED. WHAT IS THIS WITCHCRAFT. I-I can't believe soon I'll have to go out into the real world and- and do actual work, like having a livelihood, earning a living kind of work. Like how???? WHAT HAPPENED, YOUNG ME. WHERE DID YOU GO???

So many pikachus. Pikachus everywhere. Everything is a pikachu. Pikachu is everything.

CLEARLY NOT WHERE I AM LOL I'M JUST AS CONFUSED AS YOU.
Although to be fair, all I have done the past few months is play video games because literally /EVERYTHING IS HAPPENING/- I got a Wii U and Hyrule Warriors came out, then Super Smash Bros. 4, and then I'm also catching up on old games and kdsjsdkjds aaaaaaa- video gameee-
.. we are the best students omgg. I'm here because I have two essays in two consecutive days starting tomorrow and I'm just. I'm so done with studying omg. |D;
( I hope your essays went okay! ) ovo;

LOL THEY HAVE BEEN ACTUALLY. Like on my oldest deviations and journals and things, they are still there.
Just think, these conversations could be the basis of linguistic / history / culture studies in the future. :'D

Yeah, I figured but then I thought about it more and the realizationnn- oAo;
I'm pretty confused like how to adults function, is there some point at which they no longer enjoy video games or talking about silly things like Tutu Cupcakes because literally no that will be me forever LOL.

Pikachu is the only answer.
