Her Favorite Color is Clear by Sux2BeMe Her Favorite Color is Clear by Sux2BeMe
45" x 30" charcoal on paper.

My cousin's daughter, and clear really is her favorite color.

From concept to execution--beautiful work! A nice blend of photorealistic elements and surrealism.

Thanks. I have some old drawings that I'll probably submit. They are just patiently waiting to be scanned.

I feel for you there. My work's escalated to sizes where conventional scanners just don't work anymore. My suggestion is to instead invest in (or borrow) a nice digital camera. It's the only way I can get the big stuff onto the computer, but it works for smaller stuff too, and sometimes gives you better and faster results.

Exactly! I'm looking for a huge scanner (a drawing bigger than A2 size...) for about 3 weeks and still I have no clue, where I can find it. It's a great idea, I think I'll let go the scanner and concentrate on finding a camera. This will be also difficult.

Thanks! I also like your work...are you doing your drawings in parallel hatching? That's a skill I've never been able to master.

Just for kicks and giggles, I entered this into a county fair recently.

I felt a little like a bully taking all those ribbons. But now I have a big purple "Best in Show" ribbon.

Kinda wish it was gray, though. The added color didn't accentuate the drawing very well.

This is beautiful! I love the texture and imaginative feel it has, the loose shadows enhance your artwork :)

Thank you so much!

I was trying to capture the ideas of a child's imagination (despite the model being a teenager). A lot of the loose shadows came from the fact that the paper was very soft, so I needed to be very gentle with the shading since erasing frequently resulted in tears.

Interestingly, I had to adapt some of those tears into the design. So they became stars.

Oh, well that's a really neat concept to work with and get on paper! I think you pulled it off in a very interesting and creative way, the bubbles are fantastic

Thanks! And thank you for noticing the bursting bubble...I've had a lot of comments asking why I was blowing up the Moon.
