The craft of Himroo was our main area of research during the Craft Internship conducted by NIFT and the Ministry of Textiles, India. Himroo is a rich fabric, handwoven using a combination of cotton and silk threads. It used to be a 'royal fabric' and was handwoven using silk and gold yarns. Today, it is being kept alive by the Qureshi family in Aurangabad, whom we had the honour of meeting and interviewing. As communication designers, we were asked to perform Branding activities for the brand to make it appealing to the present generation. For this I did the following: 1. Logo 2. Coffee table book 3. T-shirt 4. Poster 5. Facebook page 6. Book mark 7. Mailed Sabyasachi Mukherjee about incorporating this craft into his work, and got a positive response from his team.
