Coloring Tutorial Part 1 by surrealgreen Coloring Tutorial Part 1 by surrealgreen
Okay. So, Iwan13 asked me to do a coloring tutorial, so I am! But the whole pic will take a while to do, so I have to seperate it into different parts. Here's the first part, which covers most of the face (though there will be a little bit more later).

I also encourage you to check out my favorites. I have some really cool tutorials faved. Here are some I suggest you check out:

[link]

[link] for mouths, this is great

[link] this one is great for learning about brushes

Those are just a few I suggest, but there are so many awesome tutorials out there, check them out.

Also, a few things I forgot to say in the tutorial--the snapshot button is my best friend. Its that little camera icon on the history panel, it saves your picture at the point a point in time. I use it frequently, particularly whenever I finish doing a major part of the picture. That way if I mess up later, its easier to go back and change things.
I use the eyedrop tool all time. After i set the darkest shadow for an element, I pull most of the color I use (particularly when blending) with the eyedrop tool.
I usually try to stick with hard brushes. They don't always leave the smoothest finish, but a bit of a rough finish is interesting too. With a hard brush you get more of a painted look.

I think that's it for now. I hope this is helpful. This is the first tutorial I've ever made, so feedback would be appreciated.

Hi Surrealgreen,
I did actually, I browsed through your favourites and it was really helpful. By the way, thanks for posting "Coloring Part II": with your permission I'll show it to my students... I think they will enjoy it very much!
Big kisses from a French guy.

You're welcome--and more than welcome to show it to anyone you want. That's why I posted it! I'll try to have part III up soon. What do you teach?
Hm...never been kissed by a French guy before ;)

Your the first that explain HOW she works! You show the people the direction of every single stroke, every move you make to trace! This is the sinn of a tutorial! Well done and many thanks in name of the others !

You're welcome :D . I tried to explain every step; I'm glad it was clear and understandable. I love tutorials, but you're right--many of them don't explain everything, or at least not clearly. But check out my favs--you'll have to scroll through because I have a ton, but there are some really neat tutuorials in there.

Glad you like it. It just sort of evolved.
I love that snapshot thing. It has saved me so much work when I try something new. I'll make like 80 snapshops for just about every pic. I was just messing around, seeing what the icons did (because I'd never heard of it either), and bam, I discovered the snapshot function. I'll have part II out as soon as I can.
