Just wanted to say that I'm going to make more of an effort to keep on top of things here on dA. It's been just over a year since I wrote my last journal and I've decided to continue with modeling if anyone decides they want to work with me. I felt like it was creating the wrong impression of me - superficial, conceited, or self-absorbed (I am the exact opposite) - but I don't want to live my life based on what other people think of me. Modeling is another artform to me and idk why it gets a bad rap - maybe it's just 'cause I'm surrounded by Mainers here who haven't ever left the state, LOL.

Anyway, I'm busy with several projects (mostly websites) and such, but anyone can keep up on my weekly activities by visiting my site, www.adamflanders.com - maybe I will post my modeling page again. I just restored my Model Mayhem account. I'm taking a couple online classes this Summer, but I should have plenty of time for other things, too. I'm graduating with my BS in biology soon - only two more semesters! Then I'm leaving this backward state, maybe the country, too. Science labs are seriously lacking in the US.

I will be modeling this Summer. If you want to work with me (either as a photographer or model) then let me know. I am pretty skilled with photography and I have all the necessary lighting, umbrellas, reflectors, etc. as well. I have basic skills with makeup, though I'm very able when it comes to Photoshop and photo-retouching.

I'm currently on vacation in DC with my family, mostly for the Smithsonian. It's been really incredible so far - the gemstones, the historical sites, the ocean expo - it's all overwhelming but beautiful and the weather has been great - maybe a bit too warm, even at night, but that's OK. Maybe I'll post some photos. We're just trying to fit everything in the next 5 days or so.

Lightbox

Wed Sep 26, 2007, 10:02 PM
finally made one!

I finally got around to making a lightbox today - definitely worth the hours of labor sawing CPVC pipe, getting toxic glue stuck to my fingers, and making a mess overall. But it only cost me $15 to make (that includes the clip-on lamps I bought). Again, definitely worth the effort - just checkout the 3 lightbox photos I submitted! They're awesome.

If you'd like to make your own lightbox, you can follow the online tutorial I used here: www.pbase.com/wlhuber/light_bo…

Just be prepared for a nearly full day's work - it's not as easy as it looks, but the payoff is great!
