This was starring at me....well Aku was saying ink me...NNNOOOWWWW (in his voice).
The line work took about 2 hours in one sitting, the finishing of the sponge work and body grey-FX took about another hour the following day (mostly with layer drying time on the grey wash).
I have been thinking of inking this one for some time, never thought much on Aku's body as the head was fantastic till my girl said the grey wash and to angle it like his cartoon version.
Also check out the Side-by-Side(will be posted shortly).
Light and dark, shadows of a hero....wasn't sure on a name other than what i posted.

You've got skills! I love everything about this! Aku looks so intimidating and scary, like a demon while Jack is more humble and calm but no less deadly.
YinYinYangYang  It really is beautiful...

Samurai Jack is one of my all time favorite cartoons and it deserves more love! :D

No worries! This looks awesome, and I've never seen anyone use sponges before to ink pieces, so that was really cool to see, and it works incredibly well with Aku. :D

Samurai Jack was one of mine as well, the simple style with its story telling was amazing.
Even tho it was simple it came off well, unlike some newer ones.

If you like the techniques i use take alook at my other works when you have time, i use many other mediums and styles for each piece.
Sponge is tricky as its not easy to always get the same FX out of it each time, dry, wet, hard or soft it can change alot.

My thoughts with it for Aku is he is darkness and evil and choas, what better way to say that then with the FX a sponge can put out, besides the penciler did this small hatch work i dredd so i get it with the sponge like i did for the 1st time on Shazam! fav.me/d6kz148 and Philip totally dug the effect when i met him showing the piece.

Exactly! Genndy Tatakovsky is a genius at cartoons. SJ was so much more subtle with the times where there was nothing but just Jack looking at things, walking through massive landscapes, and maybe all you heard was just environmental noises. It was so minimalistic, but he made it so gripping to watch. :D That takes genius to pull off something like that.

I kind of went on a favorite spree and comment spree on your gallery (sorry about that). I'm super hooked on your works now. There's so much variants with your inking works, and your watercolor works are just awesome :D I never even considered using a sponge on anything other than wet pieces, so it's really fascinating to see it being used in so many mediums.

Hot damn, that looks so friggin cool on that Shazam piece :D Makes me appreciate the sponge work on your SJ piece even more now. ^^ Definitely a clever way of putting your touch on a piece, I might add. :D

He loves cartoons and film so it translates well in his work.
SJ is a western/kung fu/sci-fi awesomeness film. Really wish thier was more animation people like him.

No worries all the comments and faves were welcome and the questions were well asked.
I try to ink each piece with my skill set towards what the image looks like in my head and keeping true to the pencils.
Tools are also part of your skill set, some of the tools/skills arent used as much any more as inkers dont like them or never used them....as it seems to me. other than the old guys. But it is fun to play with each.
I learned Watercolors before inking so i use water-coloring techniques in my inking as much as i can with i am able to be free with the piece.

Thank you, i like to use the expressive use of ink and painterly like expressions.
I am very glad you like my art and that i could inspire.

Hope i explained all points....i am a bit tired so yeah sorry if i ramble or trail off. But in all thank you for taking the time in asking, commenting and favering.

Indeed he does. :)
So true, maybe there'd be less garbage being thrown into the tv/online if there were more people like him.

Thank you! I sometimes get worried I just bug people on here when I'm sure they have much better things to do than to humor a little hobbiest like myself. XD

That's probably why I love your pieces so much. It seems like everyone these days just carbon copies the same x amount of techniques. To me, when people mix things up, or try something uncanny (or in this case, something old school) and apply it to a piece that wouldn't normally have said unusual techniques placed upon them makes it all the more fascinating to an enthusiast as myself. It really opens up the actual reality of what 'art' really is, and the amount of potential it can posses depending on whose hands it happens to be in. ^^

I have noticed some of your inked works do remind me of traditional Japanese pieces. Everything, including the inks have that distinctive watercolor look to them.

You did explain everything very well, thank you! I was not expecting you to respond to all my comments and questions, and I'm very glad you did. I hope I didn't take too much of your time.
The pleasure is all mine! I can't wait to see what else you put out next. :D

No worries, I'm glad you liked my works and that i could answer a few questions. I've had a few days to relax and slowly do some art before im back at it.

Thank you for the kind praise. :)

Since i talked with Jae Lee and Ted McKeever i have tried to do more ink wash type inks as fine art examples.
I like doing that style rather than the tight lined drafting style of what everyone else is doing in comics.

Oh and yeah i have a Dredd update im doing in a moment and once i have them released my entries for the Inkwell Awards ebay auction of Spider-gwen and Deadpool.
