AeroWorks FREE by SuprVillain AeroWorks FREE by SuprVillain
AeroWorks FREE is now released.
There will be three versions, FREE, Basic, and Ultimate.

This version of AeroWorks, the Free edition will only Skin/Texturize the Taskbar. You can load from the included skins, and make changes, but you can not save to a skin folder. The app will remember what changes you have made.

This app works only under Vista and Windows 7.

Sorry, XP users. you can still download and use Texturized Taskbar but it wont be updated or supported.

Prices are not final, but Basic should run between $3-$5 USD, and Ultimate will be $10 USD

Credit goes to PCModer and CommonSense for helping me out and being my testers.

just delete the folder that you unzipped it to. thats if there was not an installer. if it did have an installer, see Control Panel > Add / Remove Application"

Old, unsupported, please dont use. If you want a texturized Taskbar, make use of it's predecessor app please.

All it does is put an image over the top of your taskbar. Pretty useless if you ask me, no offence intended.

actually it puts the image under the task bar.

Maybe so, put i noticed that it does reduce the clarity of everything on the taskbar, which some might find irritating (me).

This is... a VB6 app that puts a click-through window with a png as background?

(not working)

I have Win7 PROx64. I get the "C\Windows\system32\stdole2.tlb // Unable to register the type library : Register TypeLib Failed" error unles I run in compatibility for Vista. While it does change the TASKBAR part of Aero, it doesn't affect windows and window borders.

itis not supposed to affect the borders yet, just the task bar. that is why it is free, it has none of the advanced features.
however, the window skinning has been dropped, due to xp/vista/7 compatability.

sorry if it was misleading.

where can i find more skins?

:iconsuprvillain:

you can choose more through the Base and FX layers, ones that you have made. when Basic edition comes out, it will be a small Pay software, it will have more skins and the ability to zip up skins or internet, and to import them in from the internet / downloaded file for you to install and use.

and how do i make a skin

tiy can look at the files in the folders in the skins folder. it is simply as easy as making a solid background, normally 1024 width x 30 height. then use the same measurements for a FX overlay (png only).

then use the buttons in the app (base skin = the first image you did, FX is the png that you did.)

the app will auto apply them. you cant "save" them to the skins folder, but as long as you dont change the skin, your will show up and be the last one used.

When you upgrade to the Basic edition, you CAN save them for later use, but that will be a pay app, probally all of $3-$5.

I don't think this program is giving off the desired effect.

If you see here, the skinning is going over the icons in the taskbar instead of under them.

that is how it works, although the alphalayer (slider bar) can adjust that. this works best if you are using a vista / 7 skin that makes the bar as "glass" as possible.

if you put the skin alpha down low enough then your icons dont appear distorted alot. But still, you should mention that it doesn't edit or change the original skin.

I know. I just think (not saying YOU MUST) it would be good if you said it to keep everyone clear on it. Regardless, it does a very good job of it is meant to do.

I don't know but this does not work in Windows 7 at all. Installed it will so many errors saying that your install package is older than what I have on the system then the stod package which I ignore. Then, when I run the program it runs but then try to change to another theme it shows on my basebar but when I click on use it and close the windows it goes to default. Thank gawd, you gave a free one to see how it works instead of charging people for this buggy software.

the installer package, i am working on. you need to minimize the app (green arrow) so that it will sit in the tray, so that it can keep on working on the taskbar. only use the red X to exit out and close the program.

Uhm, i got an error in the final step of the installation: "C\Windows\system32\stdole2.tlb // Unable to register the type library : Register TypeLib Failed"

The program launches, but when i press "apply skin" nothing happens. Using W7 (spanish). And yeah, Aero enabled.

dont worry about the stdole2 file, that is an old vb6 file that may not be really important.

first time i have heard that aply skin does nothing, i will look in to it, thanks or the report.
