Chibi Naara and Nok by supremetechgoddess Chibi Naara and Nok by supremetechgoddess
From my Dreams of Endymion story. Chibi Naara looking innocent (hah!) and clutching a furious-looking Chibi Nok.

For those who don't know, Naara is the main character of Dreams of Endymion. He is a wizard/prince who has become infamous for finding trouble wherever he can.

The Nok is a primordial hoarder-monster that Naara often tricks. He is meant to look like a leopard gecko, although he is usually 40 feet long!

This is from the end of Dreams of Endymion. The Nok is revealed to have been "shrunk" down to pocket-size. WHY is something that will be explained in "Sword of the Makers".

So, here's the scene. Ginger (the mercenary) has just returned to Vil Saciel and is meeting with Will (who is at this time Kestrel's student/Swordmaster-in-Training):

“Hm. I wondered why those two didn’t come to Naara’s coronation. Guildmaster Kor must have sent them their invitations. How are they doing?” Will asked.

“Um, that’s a real long story.” Ginger admitted, looking slightly uneasy.

“Oh?” Will raised an eyebrow in her direction. There was something squirming inside of her pocket, about the size of a mouse.

“Nooo! The Nok can’t see! Help The Nok, pick up The Nok!” A familiar, high pitched voice whined. It was much smaller than Will remembered it, but it still caused him to take an instinctive step back. He felt his heartbeat quicken.

"Ginger?" He whispered uneasily.

"Hang on, I got em'." Ginger sighed and reached into her pocket and produced a little spotted salamander with an obstinate expression on its face. Without a doubt… it was The Nok!

“Ahaaaa… The Naara wins again, does he?" The Nok chuckled, looking as smug as it possibly could while resting in the palm of Ginger's hand.

"The Nok is pleased. But not very pleased, only little pleased. The Nok cannot be very pleased, The Nok is not very… only… No! No, it is too horrible! The Nok cannot say the word!”

“Little?” Will suggested. He did not bother to hide his grin.

“Yeeesss. The Nok is most unfortunate. Most unfortunate.”
