As Phil Griffin can't help but laugh loudly about his sister Freda wiggling her toes from her exposed stinky feet, Phil laughs about how stinky cheese fumes being spread upon in the air helps make a friendship last forever!

Case in point the bottom panel in which Phil shares the story of how he met his best friend in high school Jay Patterson (right, bottom panel) involved Jay breathing in all the noxious fumes of Phil's socks in his gym locker that he later said was the coolest thing he ever did after Phil came clean about his life saving the Multiverse as a Green Lantern. Thus, Jay decided that he too was going to make his feet exceptionally stinky like those of Phil's and will only wear SMELLY socks on his feet, something Jay developed a habit from his dad!

NOTE: Jay's dad is none other than Michael Patterson of the "For Better or For Worse" comic strip and Michael was notorious of wearing the same stinky socks every day and always waiting for the right moment to unleash that stink every time he wanted to show his toes off! Now that's how a great friendship in Phil and Jay stays strong!
