A few basics are going to be needed before the actual story so it can be understood better. This will be taking place in a non-existing world filled with super natural beings living along side humans. Some people may not know what these supernatural things are though so I will explain all of that here.
Kemonomimi's - "Kemonomimi (獣耳 or けものみみ, animal ears) are characters who have animal ears, usually in addition to their regular human ears. This commonly includes an animal tail. The ears can be fake, such as a headband, or part of the character's anatomy." As google puts it and in this stories case they are most of the time a part of the character's anatomy.
Main types of kemonomimi's in the story: Nekomimi's- cat and human hybrid, Okaimimimi- wolf and human hybrid, inumimi- dog and human hybrid.
Sweet Demons- A species created by www.deviantart.com/misscotter/
As it says on an information post, Sweet Demons are neither sweet or evil they are born in-between. They are almost always female but the male ones are always feminine. All Sweet demons have elf like ears and big bug eyes. For more information look here www.deviantart.com/misscotter/…
Cores- A species created by myself .Cores are similar to that of witches and sorcerers. They have specified abilities which is present through marks on their body. Their abilities are far from normal and often causes entropy if used frequently. Cores clash and do not get along with Anti-Cores. Like livers, the brain, the heart etc Cores have an extra piece literally called a core because of where it is located in their body. This is what allows them to have abilities, without it they die so if someone was to break it or shatter it they would die immediately.
Anti-Cores- A species created also by myself. Anti-Cores are similar to that of witches and sorcerers. They have specified abilities which is present through marks on their body. Their abilities are more normal and often revolve around nature itself and often causes entropy if used frequently. Anti-Cores clash and do not get along with Cores. The main difference between Anti-cores and Cores is that Anti-Cores don't have an 'extra piece' they have exactly the same anatomy.
Footsteps echoed down the dim hallway with only a slim empty glow emitted from a single candle. The night was certainly one like no other in recorded history, thunder storms where rough and unforgiving to the tired population that wanted nothing more than to sleep but who would want to sleep on a night like this? "Come on! Come on!" Grace giggled in excitement to her older brother who was barely managing to catch up with her. The two of them were supposed to be in bed since 'Kids of the royal family must set a good example' or so their parents told them time and time again but tonight was the night like no other. It was the 250th year anniversary since all forces joined together to form one big unity. One which the world had never seen before in all of its existence.
"Alright slow down, if we aren't careful one of the maidens or butlers will catch us." Julien begged of his sister who quietened at the idea of being caught. With that warning in mind the two siblings wandered over to one of the many balconies they owned and sat down to peer through the gaps without being noticed from anyone below. Grace observed the buildings, lights and decorations with absolute interest, nothing else stole her attention more than to see her future people happy. "Why did it take so long for something like this to happen brother?" Grace asked in confusion, she was born in this situation so she didn't experience what it was like 250 years before but it didn't mean she didn't hear the stories. "Well... because everyone didn't like each other?" Julian spoke slowly while deciding how to put it into words as he stared down at his hands. "Too many wars were occurring and it was difficult to negotiate over." he added.
Grace seemed more than distressed at the idea of wars "There was actual wars? Why?! What does a war solve?" she complained while it looked like she was on the brink of tears. In her opinion wars were just an excuse to kill people without getting punished and it was a cowards way of dealing with their problems instead of facing their problems themselves. "It was all the cores wasn't it?" Grace spat in disgust as she put her hands across her chest and moved her view to the distance where the land was covered by a thick never ending forest. Past that forest was the land that belonged to Cores and Magic users like sorcerers, witches and wizards. Julian went silent for a moment before nodding "Of course it was." he muttered before his sister spoke up once more "Well what happened?"
"Are you comfortable? It's a long story." He asked before looking over to Grace who eagerly shuffled in her seat and stared at him with wide eyes as she waited for him to start. "As you know the Cores are power hungry bigots who only cause trouble. Well that wasn't any different 250 years ago... It was December 14th around 3am when the word got to the cores that the crown had got passed onto Anti-Cores which is our great ancestors as you know. When message reached them no one was happy about it but even less for a small amount of Cores." Julian started which got small mutters from Grace "They can't just let people have good things can they?" she said in disapproval earning a small laugh from her brother.
"So this small group of Cores were absolutely disgusted with the results and decided that the best way to deal with this would to be kill off the new king, with the king gone there would be no choice but to pick one of the others. Unfortunately this group of... beasts got to the king and brutally murdered him to the point no one was certain it was him at first. It was horrid they disfigured and decapitated him into pieces until his guts was everywhere. However, they failed since they were unprepared. One thing the group didn't know is that the man had a hidden wife so unlike they had wished for the crown was passed down to her. Of course the rats was set in their ways and wanted her gone too now so they robbed the attire of servants working for the family and hid inside until they had the chance to strike her." Julian spoke as Grace moved onto her knees with a shocked expression and waited for more to be said but he shook his head slowly "I don't know anymore detail than that. Our parents wont tell me." he mumbled.
"Oh come o-!" Grace whined but was cut off by an explosion of colours in the sky. Fire works came out of every direction and lit up the night sky better than any star could in the storm that hung over their lands. "250 years ago the war ended...." Julian mumbled with a saddened expression as he put pressure onto the balcony rail and looked out to the sky. What did the war solve?
