Evening duty_steps with explainations by SunnyJu Evening duty_steps with explainations by SunnyJu
I decided to upload some steps from previous work with explaination.
Night in the Woods - Hype
-Usually i start with rough black'n'white compositions, searching the idea and best foreshortening. Than i pick one that match more and finalize it to what you can see on the first step
-I follow the tone and focal points in b&w sketch and try to make readable and clear shapes.
-I've already picked up the color pallet that i want to experiment with and relied on the great masters works.(check Frederic Remington, Phil Hale,John Brosio, Adrian Ghenie). For this one I used only photoshop and texture brushes.
-In step 3 I want to make more identity and interesting details to reveal character and storytelling. Ask myself who is this character, what he is doing and why. Add the details on focal points.
-Polishing it and add some adjustment layers to fix the tone on conners.

Thats all!Sweating a little...

Hey! Thank you!
Actually it started with some warmup-sketches in my free time. I was scrolling some tribe costumes(which inspires me a lot all the time)and came to this idea to combine some of them witth traditish-masters-looking work. So it my personal explorations, practice and fun;)

Well you're right. You're one of those precious people that takes their work very seriously, and their studies too. I've seen too much tutorials from people that don't have strong bases yet. You have to be really good yourself to pretend to help others, and I think you already have some trong basis over wich you can teach, even a few, others people

Well.. it's a long pass that never ends. More troubles will be if i will think that i've learned everything)
Two years ago i set the goal to catch up the base of drawing (core knowledge) and still figure out how it works) Some funny thing: more knowledge-more questions.
Now i try to be a lil bit more social and bring that knowledge to ppl.:happybounce:

Haha I know what you mean. It's stressing to think that the more you know, the more you realize you don't know ^^; You're right, and by teaching you consolidate your bases too ! But I hear that's what funny with the art journey : you are never done, and you always learn. And sometimes when you walk, you turn around and see how much you improved, like "woah, it's that far away now ! It seemed so much to me at the time". That's the part I prefer ! Know that I improved, and see that really quick (I'm too impatient for the art-job XD but anyway).

It's dangerous to stay on what you know, so when I don't like what I did, I'm frustrated at first, but then I think it's kind of a blessing. Because if I can see what's wrong, it means I'm better than I was somehow, even if I cannot manage to succeed on what I want to do :)

Absolutely!
All ups and downs make the best version of us and raise the professional skills (efficiency, discipline and stress resistance, etc)
Seeing the mistakes and possibility to fix them is the way to level up;)

Thank you! And yes,i think Frederic Remington's works everyone will enjoy. Other artists are more specific and dark, but deserve attention)
