His mane is actually that length, so I was just trying to make it realistic. Let me critique your critique a little bit; that's more of a personal preference then an actual, technical mistake.

I have tried Painter but I didn't like it. Never tried Sai, though, but I've heard that you have to pay for it.

I haven't given it to her yet; I was waiting for some more help on it. Now I can fix it up all nicely.
I used a lot of different brushes for the waves. Some I made, some I downloaded, and I did a lot with just a normal round hard brush. Any suggestions on how to make it look more realistic?
