RWT - Tools list
For simplicity I've listed tools used in multiple parts only once, so it's easier to use this as a shopping list.
Most prices are pulled from my previous orders and current listings on amazon.com & don't include shipping.
"-" = required tools
"*" = optional tools
part 1
- Yardstick and/or measuring tape - $2.14/$5.98
* Photoshop or Paint.Net - NOT-free/FREE
* 12 inch ruler - $1.19
- Scissors - $3.00
- Permanant Marker - $2.49 (for 2)
* Box cutter - $4.48
part 2
- Heavy Duty Pliers (linemans pliers) - $8.86
* Wire cutters (if not included on pliers) - $5.97
- Paintbrush (foam brush) - $6.49 (for 25)
- disappearing ink marking pen (chalk or actual fabric marker) - $0.79 for 12 sticks/$6.76 for one pen
- 6" metal file - $4.11
- plastic table cover - $0.97, 54" x 108"
* Fabric Scissors (RECOMMENDED) - $12.72
part 3
- Hand Sewing Needles (leather ones work too) - $3.14
- Safety Pins (heavy duty & medium) - $6.47 (250 assorted sizes)
* Candle/matches (or use a gas stove) - $8.99 (prolly cheaper elsewhere)/$4.32 (300 pack)
- Tape (I used packing tape) - $2.63 (single roll)
part 4
- Large eye needle (for stringing the ribbon/wings) - $2.53
part 5
- Stapler/staples - $7.99/$2.99 (5,000 box)
* Long-arm stapler (easier to reach hard places) - $27.73
- Posterboard - $1.97 (4 pack)
* Hot Glue Gun/sticks (SO useful, but not necessary) - $20 + $4.55
part 6
N/A - Nothing new here
~~~~~
Totals created by adding the total amount listed in each -/* category (with the exception of the subscription cost for Photoshop - not touching that. :/ )
- Required Items Total =$69.31
* optional items total = $85.96 (majority of this is the long-armed stapler & hot glue gun stuff)
And out of all the optional things I list I almost put "fabric scissors" as required, since it's SOOO useful for cutting the fabric cleanly and quickly and easily (like a hot knife through butter)~
So my recommended total of "Required Items" + "fabric scissors" = $82.03
Hope that helps!
As this has been requested multiple times, so decided to create a more specific list for those looking to compare costs when deciding to create their own set of wings.
I kept it text instead of pictures (like my materials list) for copy-pasta abilities, but if this isn't clear enough I'll make an image version as well (maybe link this one in its description or something).
Happy crafting!
