So I've been wildstarring a lot lately. Enormously fun and rather addictive, like most mmo's to be honest.
Although it have some bugs still, the lore of the game is just mindblowing. It's really amazing, on par I'd say with WoW and that has 3+ games to back it up.
Unlike Guild Wars 2, which I did enjoy playing, but the lore there just completely flew me by.

I'm almost done with the different zones, so soon the grinding for more and better gear will begin. Unless I get stuck with building my house, which is dangerously fun.
Currently I'm on the Lightspire EU server with my boyfriend. I usually prefer RP-servers even if I don't RP myself, tends to be slightly less assholes there =P

Also, the only good thing about summer: So much bbq~~

METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE (review)

Journal Entry: Sun Feb 24, 2013, 10:32 AM
Metal Gear Rising takes place four years after MGS4. It was developed by Platinum games, makers of Bayonetta, and it sort of shows. You follow Raiden during his employemnt in the PMC Maverick. Going up against bad guys, trying to save the world and all that jazz.
Unlike the previous Metal Gear games, Revengeance is an action game. Raiden hacks and slashes his way through it, though there is an option to use stealth kills if one prefers that route. In all honesty, the first few minutes playing the game I was a little disappointed in the graphics, or rather the molding of the characters. Raiden especially looked a little 'off' to me, but as the game progressed I appreciated its graphics more and more. The lip synch might be a little so-and-so though. All the motion flows without faults however, Raiden moves with ease from enemy to enemy turning then in to tiny pieces in an orgy of violence and blood. It looks absolutely amazing.
The controls are nice and tight. The precision of the sword cuts are exact and the battle system is easy to learn but takes a little while to master. One quirk is the camera which can be a hinderance at times when it doesn't want to spin like you want it to. The Ninja Run can also be a little annoying at times when trying to make precise jumps and climbs, though it is really a minor problem and nothing that interrupts the gameplay as a whole.
The soundtrack of the game is fenomenal. Every song adds to the atmosphere of the game and enhances it tenfold. It's a pleasure to listen to and one of the best soundtracks I have heard for a game in a long time.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised by Revengeance. I had very high hopes for the games, I've been following it since it was announced and I had somewhat also prepared myself for being disappointed in it as well when it failed to live up to my expectations. But the game went the distance and beyond really. My only gripe is that it is rather short in comparison to all the other Metal Gear games. Though it IS an action game and weighted amongst its peers like Devil May Cry it defenitely holds its ground. Non-stop action with high replay value. Another problem it might bring is that unless you have played the previous parts some of the language used and references will most likely go over your head. So if you're thinking about picking this title up, at least read a synopsis or something of what has happened before. It's not required, but it will definitely help a lot.

Speaking of Devil may Cry: Having recently played the latest in the series, I can now claim that MGR: Revengeance is everything that DmC isn't. If you're standing in the gamestore, conflicted which one of the two titles you should get...

Get Revengeance.

DmC review

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 17, 2013, 5:38 AM
So, on my glorious day off, I finished off DmC. Here's my take on it.

Story: DmC takes a more serious turn than its predecessors with a more 'realistic' story. I found it, to be a little bland. It did pick up at the end but for the majority of the game it was almost a little boring because there were no shockers or memorable moments at all. The previous game did, in all honesty, not have that amazing stories either (some were even downright cheesy) but the outrageous behavior of the main character made you stick around because you wanted to see what craziness would come at the next cutscene. Personally I think that Ninja Theory should have delved deeper in to the story over a longer period of time (as it is now, you can beat this game in a night). At most for this game, it feels like they are only scratching the surface. Something that also drags down the rating for me is the childish dialogue the characters have at certain points. It's not very smart, and sometimes it feels like they just added a "fuck" in there in an attempt to make it more interesting.

Music: The soundtrack is one of the strong side of this game. It really fits well with the twisted and dark world that you venture through, for me personally it's a little too much wub-wub but while playing this, nothing would suit it more.

Gameplay: The combat is fast paced and very flexible. It flows smoothly and allows players to make some pretty wicked combos once you level all your gear up. The interface is very accessible and Ninja Theory has made weapon switching easier than ever in the series. There is however one major flaw to this otherwise excellent combat system (well, one and a half). There is no lock-on button. This goes from sometimes being a nuisance to downright fucking terrible depending on your situation. There is a, sort of, automatic target system for ranged attacks and this can actually be quite a hindrance when you really want to focus on the flying harpy instead of the stupid enemies on the ground, but the game won't let you. The camera moves freely during combat and although you have to move it manually most of the times it happens that it focuses on an enemy that you are about to attack. This is mostly a good thing, but during a certain part of the game you are running a gauntlet and need to get from point A to point B as fast as possible and the camera keeps veering off towards the enemies that pop up along the way, usually resulting in a drop down a hole.

Graphics: Overall I find the graphics to be very nice. The environments are stunning and haunting. The character designs are nice and the motion capture is pretty much spot on, capturing the characters little twitches and shrugs that makes them feel more human. However, the faces of almost every character, looks like a doll. Their lipsynch is stiff and their expressions are either blank or overreacting. At some points it looks like everyone has been stung by a bee in their lips. A small peeve of mine is also that I think it looks like someone is holding on to the outer edges of Dante's coat as he's running forward.

Overall: DmC is not a bad game, but it's not a great one either. I had expected more, much more… of basically everything. Although the game has replay-value in forms of harder difficulties, unlocked extras etc. it's not something I'm willing to spend more time on, at least not for now. While it tries hard, DmC just lacks that extra little 'oomph' that makes you want to find out its every dirty little secret.

Rating: 2.5/5

Playing DmC

Journal Entry: Wed Jan 16, 2013, 8:16 AM
So far here's my take on it.

Sound: Great music. Though I am constantly experienceing a bug where the sound cuts out. Very annoying.

Graphics: Not impressed, the characters themselves looks almost like dolls (with that special Fallout 3/Skyrim/whatever other game- glow about them). There is no life in their lip-synch. Also, mid-scene loading? not cool.

Combat: Pretty fast paced and overall good. BUT WHERE IS THE LOCK-ON BUTTON?!

Story: A more serious take in DmC than in previous entries of the titles. But it lacks that awesomeness that held me glued to the other games thinking "just one more cutscene" before bedtime. In this game so far, I'm kinda "meh" about the story. It hasn't caught me, at all.

Overall: 2 out of 5 (so far)

Other than that I've been craving sweets a lot lately. Been writing some, I have new ideas. Although most of them are not possible to implement at the moment.

I'm thinking of adding in a new character in my story, though... it'd be a lot of work to rewrite so much >.>

So I finally got the book yesterday. And I finished readin it... yesterday.
It wasn't very long though but I thought it was awesome.

It did exceed my expectations. The story itself is very sweet at parts and the overall tone in the book I find to be rather somber. You really connect with the main character "R" and his longing for something else than... nothing. All kudos to Isaac Marion that makes a truly believable story in a post-apocalyptic world.

...and this comes from someone who generally:

1.) Hates Zombies
2.) Hates Skeletons
3.) Dislikes reading
4.) Have a problem with 'romance stories'

Oh, and no... Warm Bodies really isn''t anything like Twilight (at least the movies, can't say anything for the books).
I reccomend it warmly to anyone!

I probably have an unhealthy love for Gackt, and I'm still fucking pissed off that I missed the Yellow Fried Chicken concert he had in Sweden last year...

However, currently I'm contemplating which version of the new Yellow Fried Chicken album I should buy... I personally like the "CD + DVD type B" a lot because it looks like someone's fingering a butt and that shit is just priceless XD
I really like the cover to the one labled just "CD" though... hrrm... The bonus song on it though doesn't give me much however since I ordered the single already.

Oh wells... I have some more time to think about it until the CD's comes out.

I admit that I prefer his 'rock' songs more than the ballads. Though what I really really want is just a new CD, like Diabolos. Diabolos was fucking amazing!

On a completely different note I just watched/listened to Marilyn Mansons cover "Sweet Dreams (are made of this)". I probably like his covers more than 'his own' stuff. I love the "This is halloween" version he did, just like how I love "Tainted love". When listening to interviews with him, he does seem like a pretty decent person (the drugs and other problems aside)

And on a third and also completely different note: I think I'm gonna continue my main story for a little while now.
