Ascension short - 14"Wow! I want that!!" Asher gasped as he looked at the display in the jewelry store. He had set his sights on a platinum ring with a single amethyst in it.
Wren looked over his son's shoulder down at the ring Asher was pointing at, "you're becoming more and more like your mother every day." He handed the eager salesman a card, "we'll take the ring."
"Of course, sir!" she smiled.
Asher looked at the newly bought ring on his finger with a smile. It looked better on him than he thought. "So, when's mom gonna be finished with her dinner?" he asked as they were walking around the mall, window-shopping.
Wren shrugged, "maybe in an hour." He smirked at Asher, "you're stuck with me until then, squirt."
The young man just sighed hanging his head. "Why do I have to walk around here with you anyway? I can take care of myself."
"Sunnie asked that you and I spend some time together while she was away," he looked at Asher. "So here we are."
Asher sighed, "look dad. I know you don't really
Ascension short - 13"Wren, how strong are you?" Sunnie asked as she looked out over the demon city.
They were sitting on the rooftop to one of the towers of Lucifer's castle. Well, at least Sunnie was sitting. Wren was lying down on his back, eyes closed with his hands behind his head.
"I'm not going to answer that," he replied.
"Because it's a stupid question."
"How can it be a stupid question?!"
He sighed, "I don't know the answer to your question. You've asked me before, like three times."
"How can you not know?" she grumbled.
"You think I have nothing better to do than to find heavy things to lift?"
"To be honest Wren, you don't have anything to do."
"That is so not true, I'm doing things right now."
"Like what? Ruminating?"
"Har har, aren't you the witty one?"
"You never want to tell me anything about your powers " she pouted, folding her arms.
Wren sighed again and sat up. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her up on his lap, holding her as he kissed her neck. "W
Ascension short - 12"You changed." Sunnie said before putting the toothbrush in her mouth. She looked at herself and Wren in the bathroom-mirror, he was standing with his back turned to her, drying his hair with a towel.
"Ah schaid, you changed," she slurped as a few specks of toothpaste hit the mirror.
"I haven't changed " he frowned a little walking up to her, looking at himself.
"Mmhm," Sunnie nodded as she continued to brush.
He looked down at her, quirking a brow. "Yeah, continue that after you spit."
Sunnie sighed, turning the faucet on and spitting out the toothpaste. She rinsed her mouth off with water and looked back up at Wren.
"Lucifer was right, you did grow," Sunnie stepped up in front of him, pressing her back against his chest, fitting in her head under his chin. "See? You're a full head taller than me now."
"And that is change? Or strange?"
She turned to face him, moving her hand over his bare chest as she bit her lower lip in thought.
"You were a lot skinnier when
Ascension short - 11"Are you happy with what the world has become?" Lucifer asked as he walked out on the balcony where Jory was standing, looking out over the city.
Jory looked up at Lucifer, in his more human form, the Demon Lord was almost two heads taller than him. "What do you mean?"
"The chain of ascension is broken. Humans have 'free will' and us what will happen to us now?" he sighed, leaning against the balcony railing as he looked down at the courtyard below where Wren was beating up his soldiers in some sort of training session.
"Depends on Mr. Happy-pants down there," Jory pointed down at Wren.
"What? You mean if he decides to just waste us all?"
Jory shook his head. "Nah, Wren would never do anything like that. You're family! He cares a lot about you, you know."
"Speaking of family, nice way to twist up the family tree there, father and son at the same time, really?"
"Does either of us look deformed, hm? No harm done, that's all I'm saying." Jory said, tossing his hands up.
Ascension short - 10"P-please! It's enough! I I can't " Dis panted as he fell down backwards, scurrying away from Wren.
" Fine," Wren sneered. "Get up on your feet, we're heading back."
Dis nodded as he stood up on wobbly legs, he grasped for Wren's cloak using him as support as they started walking back.
"Ngh! Please, don't walk so fast!" Dis exclaimed as he stumbled after Wren.
Wren stopped dead in his tracks, swatting away Dis' hand from his robes. "Stop with your whining, Dis!"
"B-but " he started but quickly held his tongue as Wren glared down at him.
"Wren Are you in here?" Dis slowly pushed the door to Wren's room open. Inside, he saw his teacher sitting on the windowsill, looking out over the ruined city.
"What is it?"
"I was just wondering I had some questions, about Sunnie."
Wren instantly got up, glaring at Dis who shunned back. "Do. Not. Talk about her."
Dis bit his lower lip. This wasn't the first time he had tried to bring the subject up, but Wren
