Ascension Short - 37”Come on Jesse! Arm-wrestle with me!” Asher smiled at the brown haired man as he walked past where Asher was sitting in the courtyard.
“Uh… why would you…?”
“Pleaase?” The young man pleaded.
“You’re THAT bored huh?”
Jesse smiled, “Fine.”
Asher quickly got up and fetched a large empty barrel to use as a table, putting his elbow up on the top he waited for Jesse.
“I haven’t done this in ages…” Jesse mumbled to himself as he grabbed Asher’s hand in his and got in to position.
“Ready? Three, two, one go!”
Asher slammed down Jesse’s hand in to the barrel, smashing it completely. The former demon pulled his hand back quickly, “Hey I wasn’t ready!!”
“I asked if you were ready!”
“And you started counting down immediately! I wasn’t ready!!”
Asher grunted as he went and got another barrel. While
Peacetime (9) - Deserter (Part 1) -”So, how are things looking?” Severin asked as he sat down in front of Kip’s desk, “With the village I mean.”
“Well… things are slowly getting better,” the bespectacled young man said as he flipped through some documents, “We’ve started trading some of our crops with other nearby villages. A few more houses have been put up and their health has improved as well. We’re still waiting to see how much profit the silk will bring us.”
“Financially we’re not out of the woods just yet. In fact, we still have a long way to go…”
“But we’re going in the right direction at least!” Severin smiled.
Kip sighed a little while adjusting his glasses, “I wish I shared your optimism…”
“Maybe you need some time off? How long has it been since you relaxed and just took it easy? Maybe you should go home and see your family.”
Ascension Short - 36”I’m hungry...” Wren said quietly to himself.
He opened his eyes and looked around the dark empty room. The large chain around his left arm that tied him to the ground rattled slightly as he moved. There were no windows, but somehow he knew it was late night. He calculated it had probably been three days since he was put here.
Put here by Dragon.
Wren sighed. He felt so weak. His stomach was growling and his throat dry.
“Have you learned your lesson yet?”
Wren looked up and saw Dragon stand before him. In his hands he held a tray with a plate of food on it and a pitcher of water.
“Y-yes! Please, I’m so hungry! I’m really sorry for running away!” the young boy cried.
“Stop crying!” Dragon growled, kicking Wren right in the face and causing him to fall back, “You have to be stronger than that.”
The old god turned around and placed the tray of food down on the ground, “If you want to eat, you have to deser
Ascension Short - 35”Excuse me? Excuse me!”
The policewoman at the desk looked up and saw the handsome young man look down on her with a huge smile. He put a box down on her desk and brushed a few black and blonde hairs from his face. She instantly froze and swallowed her hands almost started shaking in fear, “Y-yes?”
“You don’t mind if I go in there do you? I was kinda in the neighborhood and thought I’d check in and see how everyone’s doing.”
“G-go ahead!” she replied with a stutter.
“Oh, and I wouldn’t reach for that gun at your side either. Nothing upsets me so much as being shot in the back,” he smiled at her and picked up his box before heading further in to the precinct.
As Wren entered the large office space, filled with police officers, they all stopped and stared at him.
“I’m not here to kill you. Look! …I brought you donuts,” he said with a smile as he held up the box he was carryi
Ascension Short - 34”How did you convince me to do this...?” Wren asked as Sunnie was walking circles around his bike out on the big parking lot. She was wearing a very tight leather suit, while holding a helmet in her hands.
“Aw come on! How hard could it be?” she said with a smile and put the helmet on.
Biting his tongue he sat down on its back, allowing Sunnie to slide down in front of him, “Ok, right side, breaks. Left side, gears. Right handle, throttle and break. Left handle, clutch. Got it?”
She nodded, “Break, gears, throttle.”
“I’ll show you, ok?” he reached around her, forcing her to hunch down as he reached for the handles and started up the bike. “Clutch down, tap your foot down to first gear. Let go smoothly, yes?”
The bike slowly started moving forward, he stopped it after a few feet, “Understand?”
“Yes, yes. Why do I have to wear this… way too tight leather suit and a big clunky helmet?
Peacetime (8) - Threads -”I have something to show you,” Severin said with a smile as he walked up to his daughter who was inspecting the armory. He held his hands behind his back, clearly concealing something.
“I hope it’s your finished homework,” she smirked, putting her hands on her hips.
Severin frowned, looking a little to the side, “I- I’m working on that,” then he smiled at her again,” I just made this!”
He took out the item behind his back, it was a carefully folded robe. He held it by the shoulders, letting it fall down so she could get a good overview of it.
The robe was blue and green in color with silver beautiful embroideries on its sleeves and curling down on the backside. She touched it with her hands and it was as smooth as silk but much thicker and sturdier.
“Wow…” she ran her hands over the silky fabric, feeling the small embossment of the silver thread, “Is this from the spider silk?”
“Yup, do yo
