Make your CSS Journal #7 {Special Edition}
That's right, as it says in the title, this article is a special edition one. Why? Because I'm going to give you the CSS Code to one of my journals, the Silver Skin which you can find here as a live preview.
Now it's not exactly the easiest skin to make, so bear with me on this, but you will understand a lot of things after, I will give as much details as I can on each block of code.
The Images
Now before we can even start, we need to get our images right? Here's the images we will be using for this journal.
Top/Bottom Bar
And also the icons on the right thanks to Dave Lanham for them.
Getting the box done
So we want to start with the box, it's the easiest and simple to do.

Make your CSS Journal #4
Welcome to part 4 of our series on making your CSS Journal stand out from the rest. This part will be a carry on from the last one, so it's about usage of images on this.
First bit, if you remember in the last one, we made a header image, so in this, how do we move our subject further up to be on top of this image? (If you've been following the series and the exact code.)
You first need to change the padding on our journalbox to move the stuff up, so our subject in on our header. Then we need to add a margin (remember those?) to our journaltop so that we can move our journaltext down further so it's not on the header plus making the background transparent. This may take a bit of fiddling to get at first, but here's the CSS code I have for both of them.
background: #FCFCFC url('[link]) repeat-x;
border: 2px solid #333333;
padding: 10px 0 0 0;
background: transparent;
font-family: tahoma, arial, verdana, sans-serif;
font-size: 9px;
color: #CCCCCC;

Make your CSS Journal #5
So we're coming quite a way for creating journals and customization. But still, there are more you can do, possibilities are almost endless. In this part, we will be doing some extra bits you can add into your journal. But unfortunately, half of these do not work in IE.
About this journal
The "About this journal" is to have a section on your journal that says a quick words about your journal, this includes the design, what it's about, etc. When on mouse hover, another big expands saying about it. Useful for a vary of things. Here is how you do that.
.expand sup{
.expand:hover sup{
width: 200px;
background: #FCFCFC;
border: 1px solid #333333;
padding: 5px;
text-align: justify;
<div class="expand">About this Journal
Text goes between this these sup tags.</div>
It's simple as that, so the CSS code says to hide the text in the sup tags, and when the div (About this journal) has the mouse hovering it, show the text

Make your CSS Journal #2
So in the first one, we learned how to create our first basic CSS Journal. But now it's time to learn a bit more yes? Make your CSS Journal stand out a bit more with adding some of your own bits and pieces into it. In the this article, I will be replacing all < and > with the characters [ and ] so that the code will show properly.
Sub Headings
With CSS Journals allowing internal divs, it's very easy add extra bits into it. A comment usage is sub heading, just like using the bold text on news to define a certain area of the article. You can find them almost every where.
border-bottom: 2px solid #821122;
font-family: Courier New, Courier, tahoma, arial, verdana, sans-serif;
font-size: 16px;
We set a border bottom, a font-family and size. You can do more if you want, such as backgrounds, more borders, etc.
[div class="subhead"]Heading Title[/div]
More Internal Divs
Internal divs is a great way of showing extra bits off, whether it's news, or s

Make Your CSS Journal #3
Welcome to the third part in the "Make Your CSS Journal" series. This series is here to help you make your own journal stand out from the rest by giving all sorts of tips and tricks and learning parts of CSS you can use on your journal.
For this article, all instances of < and > have been changed to [ and ] to work on the news article. Make sure to change them back ;)
The Margin
Ahh, the margin, what is the margin? The Margin is the transparent border outside of your div, you can't see it, but it's there. It can allow you place your divs somewhere on the page. If you to make just a simple div box with a width of 200. It would be on the left side of the journal right? (Well, unless you have a text-align: right or center on your journaltext css.)
Let's apply this margin of ours.
width: 200px;
height: 100px;
background: #821122;
margin: 0 auto;
[div class="margin"][/div]
Our margin is set as 0 auto. There are different ways you can do this, 0 is the to

Scrollable CSS boxes in Journals
If you need a scrollable box in your Journal, where you can put recent news, fav's or thumbs, this one is for you.
Let's cut the BS and go to the code.
Put the following in the CSS (beta) box on your Journal:
position: relative !important;
overflow: auto!important;
vertical-align: top !important;
height: 190px !important;
width: 100% !important;
border: 1px #92A399 solid !important;
padding: 15px!important;
The below code goes into your Journal body:
Add your contents here
No BS - just CSS :lol:
Obviously the parameters of the colors and such can be changed. Go play with the stuff to make it suit YOUR Journal.
I hope someone can use this. If it has been posted before, please excuse me - I didn't see it.
Have fun =)

Journal CSS Resources
CSS for subscribers is finally here!! Your local neighbourhood zilla is here to give a few pointers to the novice CSSers who want to give their journals a make over with a few pointers and a list of handy resources.
As a general rule it is better to keep things simple, not just if you are a beginner. Remember the following points when you design your page:
1. Mock it up Try your design in Photoshop first (or which ever app you have) that way you can play with colours and styles without needing to refresh your journal too much.
2. Just because you can, doesn't mean that you should... try to avoid making things like the text size too small. The current journal style works well, so just start simply by changing colours.
3. Contrast is good. Making the colours of your text and links the same, or very close is bad m'kay. Make it easy for people to differentiate between things. Also, making your journal text too dark on a black background or too light on a bright backgro
