Rift: The Mage and the Bard

Kaelenea watched the ground carefully as she walked, afraid to look up and see just how close Meridian was. Her mind was a jumble of thoughts all vying for her attention. Alastar had said something unkind to her, his annoyance rising and then flaring in response to Zandra's continued poking, and he departed. Kae knew that Zandra was just trying to look out for her, but the way her heart had stopped beating as she watched Alastar walk away was enough to convince her that whatever she could get, whatever he was willing to give her, she would take it. She would take it with both hands and not question it, and be grateful. She found him later by

It's not an easy thing, remembering your own death. Feeling the cold steel pressed against your stomach and then the warm gush of your blood (so much blood) as it rushes away, taking your life with it. It never hurt, though. That was the strange thing. Despite that razor edge ripping through my gut it never hurt. I guess it was the adrenaline. No, dying never hurt. But the rebirth? That hurt more than anything imaginable. The first breath that tears through your lungs (like drowning in air) and the factory oil and ozone smell that follows, bringing bile to your throat as you realize you can't stop breathing, you have to keep going despite th

EQ - Justyn's Story

A wolf howled somewhere nearby and Justyn felt the hair on the back of his neck prickle. He tried to get a firmer grip on his sword, then cursed himself for being so nervous his palms were sweating. His orders were simple, or so he thought at the time-- Go to the Crushbone camp and return with two belts as proof. But now, with the towering trees of Greater Faydark blocking all sunlight, he wasn't as sure has he had been. As he crept closer to the camp, he spied a centurion standing a bit away from the camp. Justyn quickly moved forward, but in his haste he stepped on a twig, and the loud snap alerted the orc to his presence. The centurion qu

A strange duo trudged through the high snow-covered hills of Stonebrunt. The first, an obvious warrior, carried two blades hung in scabbards at his sides, and wore black and silver plate armor. His steel-gray hair was pulled back away from his face, his elven heritage clearly showing in the pointed tips of his ears, and his helm was hung within easy reach from a clip on his pack. His eyes roamed constantly over the landscape, watching for the ravenous tigers that wandered through the mountains. The second of the pair was also obviously an elf, but with quite different giveaways. Her skin was dark twilight blue, and looked almost like it shou

Kilauea Darkchilde knelt in the stinking sewer water, staring down the poorly lit hallway at an ogre that was busy scratching itself. She held her bow tilted slightly to keep it out of the festering water, an arrow nocked and resting lightly on her index finger. Behind her, she could sense the presence of her cleric companion, Dolmer Syrinc. They had come to Stormreach at about the same time, and had gravitated towards each other with the ease of old friends. Although Dolmer was a cleric, he was skilled with a sword, and Kilauea was grateful for the backup. "Especially in times like this," she whispered, and moved forward slowly, keeping qui

Haleakala was a young elf. Well, young by elven standards, and certainly by the standards of the large green construct she was currently arguing with, even if she was one hundred and thirty-two years old. "But they're the most well-known troupe in Stormreach! Don't you want me to learn to be a better bard?" Her short silver hair fluttered in the ocean breeze drifting through the windows of the tavern as she looked pleadingly up at the emotionless face of the warforged. Her eyes, a stunning shade of violet tinted with red, normally won over the hardest of hearts; however, warforged had the hardest hearts of all, quite literally. "Of course,

Hallis stood near the top wall of the arena, torn between wanting to take a closer look, and not wanting to draw attention to himself by pushing his way through the crowd. The Knights of Truth were not generally welcome in this part of town, and moving closer might do him more harm than good. He knew there was a contact here, but he had to wait for the person to find him. It never happened any other way, even though it usually meant having to be present for more than one performance. Two bouts came and went, both with an excessive amount of blood. The current bout was no contest. He watched with horrified fascination as a hapless gladiator w

The sounds of battle raged behind the young girl as she was carried by her mother away from the house. The long silver strands of her mother's hair tickled her nose, and she looked around for her father. "Where's Daddy? Where's Daddy?" Suddenly her mother tripped over an exposed root and fell heavily to the ground, spilling the toddler from her grasp. "Kilauea!" Her mother screamed, trying to get back to her feet, but it was useless. An elf with skin as dark as she and her mother's had already stepped out from the trees towards the fallen woman, sword raised. "Run, Kilauea!" The girl struggled to her feet, but simply stood there, scared and

Kilauea, mounted on her nightmare, stood outside the dark cave entrance to Neriak. She eyed the dragoons in distaste, who in return eyed her warily. The sword she carried slung over her back glowed with a pulsating purple light. Neither guard wanted to test her skill with it. Sighing resignedly, she dismounted in a jingle of chain and a creak of leather. Her aged, battle-worn armor seemed as tired as she was. She dismissed the nightmare, who took a few hungry steps towards the guards before a sharp word from Kilauea caused it to flinch, and vanish in a small explosion of flame and acrid smoke. Kilauea walked through the cloud, past the guard

I just tried to draw a dude with a reference from a cute boy x boy sketch on my phone. However, as I further sketched the muscles, neck, nose, and everything from waist up, I found myself staring at the head. Then I suddenly said: "Oh my god, it looks like Megamind's head!" and I quickly erased to try and correct it, haha!
