How much is YOUR hour worth?
What's the line between satisfactory for you, the maker, and decent for the buyer?
I  find it's always do difficult to price my own work. I mean, that selfish part inside of me wants to set the highest value possible, while the more modest (or maybe realistic) part insists that no one in their right mind would buy anything from me (who is pretty much a nobody in the art world) unless it was dirt cheap. Finding that happy medium between the two has caused me a lot of dissonance. The battle between the greedy and the modest is constantly changing, as one day I'm justifying a high price, while maybe an hour or so later, the value drops tenfold. I make coil baskets out of pine needles, and a moderately-sized piece could take ten hours or more to make, but once it's finished, I start to wonder whether it is  visually worth the compilation of materials, and minimum wage+(?) for time required to put it together?
With practice, and putting in the hours, I know I'll improve both the s

Contest - A 'Fat' Female Superhero VOTING
Hey guys, we're voting now, check out my front page for the latest poll.
I'm a regular reader of Escher Girls, so when I read the latest post this morning, I was deeply concerned. The following post was submitted to Eschergirls and was not made by me. The artist is Selkiesiun
I DID NOT DRAW THIS PICTURE. :iconselkiesiun: DID. THIS IS A QUOTE OF HER EXPERIENCES.
I AM ONLY RELAYING THE INFORMATION.

Selkiesiun submitted to Eschergirls:
"This is not so much a critique post as it is a conformation of how absurd the standards of art in the comic book industry have become.
I traveled to San Diego Comic Con this year and participated in the portfolio reviews they where holding from Thursday to

Fank You/Double Cluepon Stuff
Evening, folks.
Haven't got much to update with.  However, I just wanted to give a big thanks to the folks who have donated to my tip jar thus far.
Every bit is a huge help to me, to be certain.  Bills didn't eat me this month, and I should be able to get cracking on some buttons soon, which I'll make available for purchase either here or through my Etsy shop.
Aside from that, not much has happened here on this end.  I've been working on a print series for Double Cluepon that was going to be sold at a con, but the plans for that con fell through.  Nonetheless, I'm going to finish these.  With any luck, we'll be able to sell them online.
For now, I'll leave you with a preview:

Sorry for the disjointed nature of this entry.  Kinda tired right now, but I want

DA's new Premium Content Platform
I posted this on Google+ originally, but figured I'd reach more interested parties here, and maybe be able to generate a bit of discussion. I usually try to step back and wait a while to see the results of new programs like this before I comment on them, but I just wanted to get these things off my chest.
This is about DA's new Premium Content Platform; read about it at the link if you like before reading my (way too long) rant.
--------------------------------------------------------
So, DeviantART has just introduced their "Premium Content Platform", a new system by which artists can set their own prices for digital downloads of their works. On the face of it this sounds like a great idea, as artists can reach the core of their DA fanbase and easily distribute things like high resolution files of artwork, .pdfs, resource packs, comic anthologies, and all sorts of awesome things in one easy go for a

But I'm trying to find a new home for my crap anyway. Figured I'd update this to let people know I'm not dead, I'm just really, really busy. With diapers and shiz.

I just tried to draw a dude with a reference from a cute boy x boy sketch on my phone. However, as I further sketched the muscles, neck, nose, and everything from waist up, I found myself staring at the head. Then I suddenly said: "Oh my god, it looks like Megamind's head!" and I quickly erased to try and correct it, haha!

Haha! If you're interested in drawing people, I suggest starting from the inside out. There are plenty of tutorials here but basically it amounts to practicing drawing shapes first, so you can get the proportions and positioning right ;)

I want to draw realism, semi-realism, and anime. Those ideas would be a great way to start up again. I can finally start drawing again- especially males. I didn't draw them back then, but now I'm up for it.

Here's a good site to practice from. I used to do their 30 second sketch timer. I should pick that up again! www.posemaniacs.com/
