it never rains here enough
a momentary spray of dew
and then it stops
no cellos on the rooftops
like how it was back home
where the steel would groan
grown faintly tired from pelting rain

see, i wait, by the window
a wave of whisper breeze teases
only to be mean and dry
empty tears, like the desert sky
hollow shining spheres of drought
regrets without
my dreams of rain slip away
with dust
down the futile storm drain

promise me a storm
Habagat, I heard you in my dream
southwest monsoon
the palm fronds they shake so much
coconuts fall on the dirt
dogs bark, women hold their skirts
lightning
your gift to me

cross the oceans
cross the sands
and in a whirling pool
of wind and rain...

Back in time to meet an old foe.
