This is the best argument I've ever heard for why Pokemon enjoy the battles and is a refreshing reprieve from the age old "just slaves to their owners" or "acceptable dog pit fighting" posts out there. It makes it all seem so much more symbiotic, trainers helping their Pokemon pick their finest moves and pitting them against the best opponents for them. Of course there are bad trainers, just as many as there are bad humans, but that doesn't negate that there is a teamwork to it, even if trainers don't realize how their Pokemon perceive it all the time.

i love this page, the way u showed everything was amazing, and I love how Darkrai talks about others changing and becoming better, like mewtwo, and as he notes these things, it is also showing his own character improvement because it shows that he is also different from how he once was before, i love it, really well done Love

I understand how N feels about Pokemon battles and all, I mean he wanted to liberate Pokemon from humans as pets and being partners with humans. From what I think is that if he won, then the human race would live without Pokemon and the Pokemon would be free around the world. But for Ghetsis however, he used N to achieve World Domination by using all the world's Pokemon for himself

N wanted to Liberate the Pokemon from Humans, yes. But is that what the Pokemon wanted? Almost every Pokemon CHOOSE to stay with a human. That is something that N seemed to ignore and why I'm kinda angry with him. He wanted to free ALL Pokemon, regardless how good they were treated by their humans or if they wanted to stay with them.

By denying them the "power" to choose, he denies them (in my opinion) their true freedom.

That's at least, my opinion to this.

Actually, there's a comic about N being a kid and he was in a classroom of TEAM PLASMA where Ghetsis was showing some young children how cruel humans were by killing a Tauros and a lady stomping her heels on a Glameow. Either N watched in the actual games and I do feel bad for him at all. I mean he thought Pokemon suffered from humans and he didn't even know that humans and Pokemon were getting along together

But even then, when he is really able to understand Pokemon (in the sense, he knows what they are talking) then he should also be able to listen to them when they tell him about how much good the humans also have been doing for Pokemon. The Pokemon Centers help EVERY Pokemon. Regardless if they are wild or from a trainer.

And he had more as once the chance to talk not only with Ash but also his Pokemon. And Ash alone is (in the later seasons) a really great friend to every Pokemon and treats them as friends.

What I actually try to get at is: After N learned Ghetsis lied to him about liberating the Pokemon, he still never questioned if he not maybe lied about other things as well. Like, not every human is cruel to Pokemon or treats them like dumb animals.

Ghetsis made N believe all humans are nihilistic monsters like Giovanni since he's been isolated from the outside world until he was set out to revive Zekrom (Black) or Reshiram (White) to liberate all the world's Pokemon without realizing that Ghetsis wanted to use all the world's Pokemon for World Domination. Now he leads a new group called TEAM EX PLASMA who wants to help Pokemon instead of using them for World Domination like Ghetsis wants to for TEAM NEO PLASMA. I think N thought that Pokemon with their trainers were brainwashed by them for battle which is why N in those games still believed they were used for tools by humans. I kinda made a AU where N is a literal Zoroark with a psychic type as well who wanted to destroy mankind to free Pokemon from their selfishness

I answered them as well. I'll also add that it's not exactly a smart survival trait for a (from all evidence) communal species to be psychotically violent toward one another. Just doesn't make much sense.

It's simple. Even within ALL of the various canons, there are Pokemon that have never been in a fight in their lives. We're used to seeing Trainer Pokemon and Rescue Team Pokemon, but there are a lot of Pokemon - be it in anime, manga, or the various video game iterations - that are simply raised by humans or are just "part of the family" with no experience or interest in fighting. It's encountered often enough that it's very likely not an invisibly small minority.

Honestly, it could have been better. I had a breakdown on the interstate a couple of days ago. I had to be towed to the dealership, which is SCREWING me in terms of the repair cost. And it's not like I can take my car and get a second opinion. It's flat-out broken down.

Sadly, my Patreon just hasn't been pulling in much money so I'm kinda screwed. Happy holidays to me, I guess. XP

That's something I ALWAYS wnted to tell N. Or write it on his face with a permanent marker!

Sorry, but I REALLY don't like N. He seems a bit like PETA. He "helps" the Pokemon in his way, regardless if they want it or not.

This part is so sweet. Darkrai is teaching Wes more about how important partnerships are between Humans and Pokémon despite being a unsure about the answer himself.
Also P.S:what up with the weather outside if the Castforms all have different forms at the same time? is this similar to how the different Sawbucks in the anime had different coats despite being in the same area in one episode? Sorry if this is random.

I really like this explanation. It truly gives a meaning to why battling is so important in the pokemon world in general.
Fighting is a need, like eating or drinking.

You know, an explanation like this when the Pokemon series was first released would've certainly reduced the parallels to dog/cock fighting. There were an awful lot of parents forbidding the game due to that.

So Pokemon are born fundamentally violent?

If this would be true, every young or newborn Pokemon wouldn't be friendly, sweet, kind, etc. This is demonstrably false...

I can understand that violence, to some degree, is a necessary part of Pokemon life, but to say that they are violent at heart isn't totally accurate. It's a bit cynical and nihilistic, if I have anything to say about it.

But maybe this is just pedantic semantics.

I can definitely see what you mean, but I feel as though Darkrai's explanation is a little flawed- remember when Lopunny explained to Mewtwo the difference between fighting and battling?

PMD: VF - 593: Second Lesson by sulfurbunny

I think what Darkrai meant to get across is that they're competitive and loyal- not inherently violent, but always looking for ways to become stronger.

I like to think of it in terms of potential. Every pokémon CAN fight. They don't always, and most of them are capable of - and indulge in - intense affection. But the only way for them to truly develop, for the vast majority, is through combat. We see this in the games. Only a couple dozen species evolve by any other means than combat experience.

Of course, I haven't even mentioned how violence doesn't always mean hostility. We've seen it plenty in this comic and in pokémon canon; even best friends love to fight sometimes. It's another way to grow closer for them.
