Holy crap this looks great! I love the bright colors and gorgeous sense of decay. The molds look like something out of a mycologists LSD trip

Thank you! I like that, mycologists' LSD trip! In reality I'm sure they could conceive of much stranger mutations, most of these are just upscaled versions of fungi that already exist.

Indeed! Nature never fails to surprise

I have a really weird Verizon phone booth in the garage, I bet you'd dig it.

The mushroom with a happy face is ovbiously disturbed, you can see the shock and displeasure of his peers behind him :B Also wow, what a great piece man! I really wanna know whats its all gonna mean! I need to know WHY I can't have a trilobite buddy to hook on my shoulder? Why those fungi look so great and (somewhat like pizza cheese)? And just WHAT IS the fate of waffle house 2 in the background??!? :shakefist:  Also the t-book, the cube and the dude getting covered by wiggling worms is also very intriguing haha!

Looking forward to seeing the final project :highfive:

I think you must be the only person to actually notice those faces, I laughed when I read this comment because i had honestly forgot I had put them in there at all, at a certain point the painting hours just sorta blur into one another. Thank you for the kind words, support, and interest as always, means a lot! Pretty much all of that is explained indirectly throughout the stories events, so if you have enough patience to muscle through its 100+ 8 1/2 x 11 pages you'll have your answers and more!

Haha no problem man! I'm always a fan of your works and they lend themselves to long periods of staring to really get all the goodness in them and hours of work that's involved! That sounds like an epic story too :D I will be ready to invest in reading it for sure!

Sweet, thank you and likewise! And that's great to hear, finding anyone willing to read something of that length is increasingly rare! I'll be eager for your feedback, positive or negative.

I hope your project works out for you man. This is really solid!

Thanks dude! As long as it gets finished (which it will, unless some untimely death occurs) and a few people read it I'll consider it a success! Hope you've been well, I'm not around here much anymore  due to the massive continual userbase migration. Let me know if you ever decide to make more use of your twitter, most of my online presence is contained there these days.

I'm not much of a social media user in general and I ramble too much for 144 characters :p
I feel ya with the smaller amount of followers, but when you do something completely different, one thing tends to follow the other. Rather do my own thing my own way and have less overall than listen to tired ass ideas and do tired ass shit.

I think they bumped up the max text count to like 200 or 300 characters or something but I feel you. Agreed, it's good to not mindlessly regurgitate tired concept. (sometimes easier said than done though)

Starting with your feets in Vasquez territory is a solid enough place to start if you're tryin to be out there though :D
I showed my lady some of your work last night and she loved it, so you got 2 fans out here at least.

well said! I was trying my best to reproduce the indescribable feeling i got glancing at the JTHM covers whilst passing through bookstores and hot-topics as a child, which was probably my most formative artistic experience. As long as my work and concepts aren't regarded as a blatant imitations or regurgitation of his work I don't mind the comparison, the Vasquez/Hewlett/Burton lineage seems to have sadly been bred out from the visible influences of most artists that I know of. Then again, given all the poorly drawn shipping/yaoi garbage i remember being barraged with at the time maybe that's not such a bad thing. And thanks for sharing my work man, means a lot, very kind! On that token I'll try keep this place updated with whatever I do going forward, just so much of it seems like screaming into a vacuum at this point. I'm still crossin' my fingers you'll hop on the twitter train, but either way!

Nah man, I feel like you've branched away and added to the look in several ways really. Since he focused so heavily on black and white and your work gets increasingly colorful, that alone is separating you from him by a lot (in my eyes).  The stuff you're doin with the multitude of colors next to one another like a fungal oil spill is just next level. I get not getting the love you want from DA, been on here for like 11 years and haven't broken 50k unique page views, but thus is the life of the underground artist I suppose. Shit when I was in college (99-01) people were drawing nothing but anime and joe mad-esque art, it's interesting (in my mind) the route modern anime has even gone. Back in the day they would spend years animating and coming up with these things and now that they're more businesses than artistic endeavors they shoot for pumping out new units yearly and they rely more and more on tropes from old, so it feels like the bones and skeleton of their works is the exact same shit every time but with new skin to keep it 'fresh'. So much of the culture is regurgitated and stale and the pendulum will swing back to the new and interesting and when it does, you'll be there, towards the front of the line, waiting, with a load of work to dazzle people with. Mayhaps someday I'll shout into the aether with you on twitter, social media brings in goodies in human form from time to time, just not interested in casting that net out there really.

Your work is getting to a place where it will be hard to ignore (in my opinion), just hang in there and do you man, that's all you really can do...and be nice to strangers...that usually helps.
