The Return of the Disney Princess (and/or Heroine)

Journal Entry: Wed Sep 26, 2012, 9:28 PM

So, I'm settled, and back in the swing of things in what is pretty much my old neighborhood.

And speaking of old friends, I've decided-- mainly due to the affectionate nagging of FripperiesandFobs-- to return to my Historically Accurate Disney Princess series, which my long-time followers and watchers will know was a thing I was doing up to the spring of last year.  I have done Belle and Pocahontas, and, due to popular demand, I painted Aurora. Here's what I have so far:

And of course, some assorted sketches:

I've decided to expand it to "heroines," as opposed to official princesses, mainly because I really like characters like Esmeralda, Jane and Wendy, and it would be really interesting to depict them.

Because I'm expanding the scope of this series, I've opened a new poll. Don't forget to vote for your favorite!…

  • Listening to: KCRW
  • Reading: The Lathe of Heaven
  • Watching: Downton Abbey
  • Drinking: nothing yet

OH MAN, I would LOVE to see Wendy done in her proper historical attire! In the film, she was wearing more of a Regency-inspired night gown, but the story takes place in the early 20th century...

I was wondering... Should she be depicted at 12 or 13, the age she is in the movie, or should I age her up a few years?

Hmm... I think something around 13-15 would be cool. Wendy was always a more mature girl, so I think it would be fitting if she were depicted slightly older.

Okay, I'll keep that in mind!
