Thomas Jefferson's Cake by suburbanbeatnik Thomas Jefferson's Cake by suburbanbeatnik
:iconjadexmara: commissioned this as a birthday gift for her friend Gin, who is a particular fan of Mr. Jefferson. So here's Thomas Jefferson, in all his youthful gingery glory, with a big pink birthday cake. I was told that Gin was very pleased.

No doubt accompanied by a dinner of mac 'n cheese, with ice cream to go with the cake for dessert.

There has to be alcohol in there somewhere as well...

Probably some snobby French wine. Going to Europe really turned TJ into a foodie. He seemed to be more into cuisine than Franklin was.

Well, given the food I grew up with when I was a kid-- and how it's got markedly better over  the years-- I can't blame him for his food snobbery. I shudder to imagine how bland it would have been in the 18th century. Here's some cognac, Jeffie!

Would that be a chocolate cake or just a plain sponge beneath the icing? (inquiring minds would like to know, even the inquiry is made in a somewhat facetious spirit, so please feel free to ignore it).

... I recognise that we are all entitled to our personal convictions, but I swear that hardened politicians would run screaming from the sort of ferociously-partizan debates likely to follow such a boldly-subjective assertion!:o (Eek)

This looks a lot like Thomas Paine author of "Common Sense" & "The Crisis" more so in my opinion compared to Thomas Jefferson.

haha - I love both the story and the execution!!!

And I learned something too - I now like TJ better than ever knowing he was a ginger!

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. TJ's gingeryness, to me, is one of his most endearing qualities.

Fantastic! Thomas J. is my fave pres. as well! Perhaps maybe I could suggest something for you- I'd love to see another portrait by you with maybe Thomas and his Sally Hemmings by his side? I'd love to see your interpretation!!!
