Pink Carnation, Scene 2 page 2 by suburbanbeatnik Pink Carnation, Scene 2 page 2 by suburbanbeatnik
In honor of the re-release of The Secret History of the Pink Carnation, I teamed up with author extraordinaire, Lauren Willig, to render a few of the Purple Gentianís adventures from prose to picture.

The second of two scenes from "The Secret History of the Pink Carnation": in which the aspiring spy Amy, whilst attending a party hosted by Napoleon's wife, Josephine, runs afoul of the dubious-- but handsome-- scholar, Lord Richard Selwick. You can also see these pages at Lauren's site: [link]

Oh Napoleon you silly, anger-prone little man! Lol.

Odd compliment, I know, but I really like the lettering on good ol' Bonaparte's "JOSEPHINE!"

Great job on the line work too, it's a nice cross between more contemporary illustration styles and the kind of etched, repeated lines you'd have seen in the woodblock prints that were more common in that period. :)

JOSEPHINE!!!!!

Thanks for the comment! My linework, for whatever reason, always ends up really 'etchy' anyway...
