Nikki by suburbanbeatnik Nikki by suburbanbeatnik
This is a commission I did at the beginning of summer. It's a companion piece to the "Kristin as Madame Pompadour" portrait-- Nikki is Kristin's sister, and she wanted a painting of her in a similar grand 18th century gown. I made hers somewhat more pastoral in style, since she's an outdoorsy young lady who owns a chicken. (The chicken didn't make it into the piece, but her hamster and her old teddy bear did.) I'm happy to say she was very pleased with how the painting turned out!

i think teddy bears were invented in the beginning of the 20th century... Arghhh!

Sorry, the historical-accuracy jerk in me went off. Heheh. Anyways, it's so pretty and i love it... especially the rich blue. Awesome choice.

LOL yes... but this wasn't really intended to be all that historical, just "historical-esque." Both Nikki and Kristin wanted modern hairstyles and the toys or pets they grew up with. Kristin had her marimba mallets and her pet guinea pig in her portrait, and neither of those are remotely 18th century. :XD:

That is definitely a dress I would wear. Especially if it came with a hamster! =P) Lovely and lively, as usual. =)

Thank you! Her hamster is so cute-- it makes quite a prop to 18th century finery. :D
