This is the final for "Mary Alice Peale." (The original sketch is here- [link] )I gave the original to Kathleen Duey, the author of the book it was inspired by. This is an example of how I work; I usually do a color photocopy of the original sketch, if I wish to take it to a finish, and paint over it, after coating it with matte medium. That way, I preserve the original drawing, giving me an out if for some reason I completely screw things up.
WOW, you have such an amazing coloring style. It's so full of movement... what technique do you use?
Watered down acrylics, with lots and lots of layers. Glad you like!
WOW, I thought it was colored pencil...
Anyone who hasn't read "Mary Alice Peale" by Kathleen Duey should get a copy! The cover sucks, but the story itself is quite well written.
wow, this is absolutely jaw-dropping. this is just amazing.
That is so good. What book is it based on?
But you didn't screw things up at all! An artist is always too critical about his own works I guess, tough it is good to be critical to keep being progressive. I love the traditional medium and how you applied it, still seeing the texture, how you worked. The pose and especially facial expressions make it interesting to look at, you can clearly see there is a story behind it.
I like your method.
