Madame du Bunny by suburbanbeatnik Madame du Bunny by suburbanbeatnik
I was just commissioned to paint another costumed bunny portrait, in the style of my previous piece "Bunnie Antoinette." [link] This time I did a lapine version of Louis XV's mistress, Madame Jeanne du Barry. Here she wears a 1770s violet robe a la francaise, with strawberry, blackberry and and raspberry trim. The quote above her is a play on her famous last words to the executioner, requested specifically by the client.

The client provided the French; unfortunately I didn't double-check it. I would have to repaint the text to make it gramatically correct. :/ I guess I have a few more days to decide if that's worth the effort.

Anyhoo, glad you like the piece!

The quote was the client's idea. The actual quote's on wikipedia, I'm sure... I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

Well, I gave it some thought and since it was approved by the client... I don't think I'll do anything. I hope the gods of French grammar won't strike me down! *winces*

Little squiggles made with teeny tiny brushes! The sable ones (by Winsor & Newton, or Isabey) are the best.

Ha ha! Very smart. :D You know, it helps with the search engines too... if someone searches for 'illustrator' for example. :)
