A new commission for a client! This is part of the romantic gaslight series set in Gilded Age New York (the last entry was the Alice and Luigi Waltz.) The hero in this story was Alice's jilted husband, James, a wealthy businessman-- in this image, he's taking a secretary, Lili, who works in his company to Central Park, to see the magnolias in bloom. The man in the inset image is Lili's father, Tanito, who has his own (unsavory) schemes in regards to James and his wealth.
On a more positive note this is a very lovely image of a most handsome couple - although one hopes you'll forgive me when I say that cherry tree in bloom behind these two made me snigger just a little, a perfectly innocent example of symbolism tickling my inner schoolboy rather more than it should.
They were supposed to be magnolia blossoms, but my painting of them was so impressionistic I get why a lot of people think they are cherry blossoms instead.
By the look of that daddy-o his schemes would appear to be grounded in outright voyeurism! (no man who reminds me so strongly of Lord Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish can possibly be trusted not to dive headlong into the most inappropriate manipulations).
LOL yes! Well, the actor that this character was modeled on was Tom Ellis from the TV show Lucifer, but maybe you're not so far off... (Another friend said he reminded her of Jonathan Harris as Dr. Smith from Lost in Space-- I can kind of see that too.)
Ooooh this is so pretty!
Wooa this amazing ! Your skills and style are wonderful !
Lovely – especially the blossom effect in the background!
