I've been on a Star Wars kick lately- mainly reading up about the Imperials, who have cool, if very difficult to draw, uniforms. Anyway, the awesome art of Davide Fabbri, who illustrated Dark Horse's "Empire: The Wrong Side of the War" (which features a hot little subplot about imperial Captain Kale Roshuir and his rebel sweetie Deena Shan) inspired this. The looks of the Captain and his girlfriend were right out of a romance pulp magazine from the '30s and '40s- and thus the idea for this was born.
I painted Roshuir and Deena with acrylics on Holbein paper. The hand lettering was done with Copics and technical pens.
This might possibly be the silliest thing I have ever done. But I wish this magazine existed, because I would SO read it.
You mean Deena and Kale Roshuir? no I didn't read any fanfic. Mainly because I didn't like Deena (or at least what they did with her character afterwards), but yes it was interesting to see a Rebel agent with an Imperial officer ^^ but I would prefer more stories about Janek!
WAU! Imperials and Rebel spies... in a romantic magazine...? Now that would set hearts thumping all around the planet! Very good work on the uniform, cap and the layout, I know how hard it can be drawing them! ;D A fav straight away!
