Archibald Cunningham by suburbanbeatnik Archibald Cunningham by suburbanbeatnik
This is Tim Roth as the fabulously vicious Archibald Cunningham, from the otherwise second-rate Scottish period epic "Rob Roy"; Archie's wardrobe practically stole the show from everyone else. I have such a weakness for OTT 17th and 18th century fashion... I did this some years ago, but I still take pride in the wig.

2/25/07 Update: I uploaded a higher-res version, so more can be seen. (Archie is quoting "Spaceballs," by the way.)

That's wonderful!  Cunningham's scenes are definitely the only parts of the film worth watching...  :)

Yes that's true! And he gets the best costumes as well.

The "Spaceballs" quote in the upper right corner cracked me up!

Ah, the fabuously unrepentant and sly Archie Cunningham. The combination of sheer viciousness with effimate fashionability was so well done. While I can't say I "rooted" for him he was one of the best movie antagonists I've ever watched!

The rest of your gallery is an utter joy to my not-at-all inner history nerd! :D

Thank you! Archie's costumes were fantastic, very well made and designed, and authentic for a period you don't see often in film. Thanks so much for the favs and the watch too! :)

The wig is the best part! And the fancy coats and cravats too...

*Goes away to daydream of Archie...*

yeah, i actually just finished watching rob roy again

archie was my favorite charachter (even considering what he did) but i think he was horrably abused as a child thats why hes so.... 'mean',

i tell my friends, i'v never been so attracted and disgusted by the same person before but he manages to do it...

but i am working on another drawing of archie with his wig and fancy clothes, but it may be while... =)

great job

Can't wait to see it!

Yeah, I thought Archie had more depth than anyone else in the movie. He managed to be repulsive but compelling at the same time. And I hardly remember Liam Neeson's character very much, honestly...

Tim Roth was amazing in Rob Roy. It's one of the few times I seriously found myself cheering on the villain XDD How could I not? He had the most beautiful costumes in the film^^

And nice job on the wig. All those curls can be brutal.

I know, the horrors of drawing periwigs! Say, have you ever thought of doing a late 17th century/early 18th century piece? I'd love to see you draw something like that in your style! :D

I probably will as I work on my character profiles. My main villain Angelo was sort based on Archibald XDD Not directly... but it's obvious from the character design and the older style of clothing he wears. I still need to draw a decent picture of him-- early 18th century clothing is so much trouble...

Well, I'd love to see you do it! I don't want to be the only person drawing periwigs, after all... ;P

Haha, yeah, there's just something about Archie, isn't there? It's totally the wardrobe. 1710s fashion rocks my socks.

Isn't it so wonderfully over-the-top? The other fellows in the movie didn't have a chance, not with Archie sharing the same scenes with them!

No kidding, eh??? Tim Roth was absolutely amazing, let alone the grandeur of his costumes. The fight scene at the end blows my mind everytime I watch it.

What is your media? Pencil and marker? Regardless, I found the contrast of color and monotone attractive. Your "sketchy" style is most attractive here.
