Desperado Ascension Part 1
Legendary of: Coal, Volcano, InfernoPrompt:Desperado knew power when she felt it. It was like a hum on her skin. It was a song in the air that pierced her ears with itís sound. It was a weight on her shoulders that bore down and reminded her of her status. She was a warrior, a powerful solider in the kingdom of her own. She was a member of the broken Eternal Winter Order, and she knew real power when she thought of the snow queen that this group kept chained and split. Traitors like Rannulfr, loathsome that Desperado could say, held the power. When she was greeted by those kinds of powers, she felt a smidge of envy. Perhaps thatís why when she came to be in front of the nightmare tree, it twist and rooted into a form that she found quite ugly. It bloomed bright white icy leaves, and the trunk was a dark black wood that reminded her very much of the many ice realms she travelled through. Her gaze lingered on the tree, and she waited patiently to understand why such a thing of power would summon her to its domain. For the nightmare tree wasnít just a realm, it was so much more.It took a moment, but from those icy leaves came a branch, extended to the stygian. Desperado gazed at it with a hunger that was known among the land. It was power, raw and untamed. This was not a olive branch of peace. If she took this, she would gain something far more wild. Something she had craved since the wars with the snow queen and night king. Unbridled power. Her hand reached up, taking the branch in her own.Memories and moments flashed through her, but she knew it wasnít her watching them. The tree was shuffling through them, deciding if she was worthy of its gift. The way she watched it shuffle through was exciting. Eventually, she felt the power surging into herself as well. It was taking herself...her kingdom, everything and making it better. Powerful, open. She watched the village of her realm disappear and the home she made in the pits of a non active volcano change. Harsh winter surrounded her mountain where lava flowed freely around the earth. There was still the village and there was still the sea and the forest, but they were combatting the wind and howl of the snow while being surrounded by rivers of magma. She didnít know when she shifted herself, her nightmare changing so quickly that she could only focus on so much. As she did though, she was aware of another thing. The power she shared with the tree was absorbing her and she knew when she felt her join the nightmare tree, her own body shifting to suit the new host.Word Count: 470
Legendary Ascension 1: Awakening
"Ahh... So I'm not dead after all."
It's strange, Jupiter thinks. It coils and uncoils, feeling all of its wings. Though stiff, though in an unfamiliar nightmare, it is alive.
It's almost disappointing.
It had hoped this unfamiliarity was the void. Was the end of boring days and endless wars.
"I'm in one piece. Thanks to you, huh?"
Its tone is sad as it flickers its eyes up to the resplendent glittering tree before it. It's not just made of gold, that's only the bark. The leaves shimmer in a myriad rainbow of colors, each leaf more priceless than the last. Though it doesn't try, Jupiter knows if it cut this tree open rivers of wealth would flow forth in the place of sap.
It never wanted money, to be so needlessly rich,
Legendary Ascension 2: Desolate Fate
It's like becoming whole again.
Jupiter never knew it was in pieces before. It never knew there was a hole in the very core of its being where it longed to connect to the world again.
It almost feels like the coils of its serpentine body now stretch on forever, creating the glittering, dazzling gold and gemstone paved roads its kingdom now bears host to. Those roads now bustle with imaginary fragments of people doing business, doing work. The jingling of coins trading hand almost seems musical. It almost soothes it.
That voice from before. This time, however, Jupiter knows where that voice comes from.
Like calling an old friend, it reaches out a paw and a dazzling lance appears there, waiting. A weapon befitting a king, a god of prosperity, to defend the realm from what it fears most.
The laughter rippled from Jupiter's throat, almost manic and panicked at first. Then it bubbles off to genuine laughter. Relief.
Alyenne breathes in deeply. Her eyes flutter closed, white eyelash over blue iris, and when she opens them again, she is different.
She is different, and yet she is still the same. Her awareness of her own self still beats strongly in her consciousness, but now alongside that, she can feel the Nightmare Tree and the knowledge it contains. It murmurs, too quietly for her to understand, and yet she knows that to comprehend the Tree's words would have unknown, but unappreciated consequences. She avoids focusing too hard on it.
Her Flower Manor, her darling realm painstakingly imagined down to every individual speck of dust, slowly shifts around her, as if to reflect the changes in her own being. Fundamentally, just as she knows that just as she is still Alyenne, Flower Manor is still her nightmare realm. But Alyenne cannot help but feel a little wistful for the alteration of her most beloved creation.
She begins her exploration of her new-but-old home at the doors of her manor, gazing up
Bellum Legendary Ascension Quest - 1
As a Stygian, one has the ability to traverse nightmares, coming and going freely. Sometimes the destination is clear, others, not so much. Occasionally one's being is pulled into nightmares, either by a specific entity seeking you out or, in the case of particularly strong nightmares, the nightmare itself.
This time, Bellum isn't sure which it is.
The first thing she notices is smoke.
Thick, black, overpowering smoke. It clouds her vision and singes her lungs, the heat and tiny embers within it dancing across her fur. Under normal circumstances it would be suffocating and most certainly painful, but in this instance Bellum felt nothing but a gentle warmth.
Beyond the smoke stands a small village not unlike her own. Medieval, empty, and additionally (though not unsurprisingly), ignited. The small brick and wooden houses burn vigorously, though at the same time are somehow never totally consumed. Windows are broken and blown out, and those with doors still remaining are riddled in what
Legendary Quest 1: Up-Braided
Somewhere between here and there, they got lost. That seems to be the general consensus among the heads as they look around the strange nightmare they’re standing in. “So… we turn around, we say nothing about this, and we meet up with Rhye for a late night snack and rum?” Rass offers.
“There’s something familiar about this place,” Smitt points out.
“Which is what I’m trying to ignore, thank you,” Rass says.
“It’s the tree,” Puck says, staring forward with reverence.
“We are TRYING to ignore that fact right now, Puck,” Rass says, only to groan and look up at the tree in front of them. They are not aligned with order or chaos, so the tree looks a bit funky, compared to how others would see it. It looks… well… a LOT like a video game tree. It’s actually rather beautiful, with branches that twist and curve into the air, and leaves of various colors. There are dark parts and light par
Legendary Quest 2: Up-Braided More
They were hit with the “catch” nearly as soon as Smitt asked, “What’s the catch?” For a moment the three headed stygian floats in the air, their minds so full of new information that just keeps coming and coming that they don’t even speak. And then it stops, leaving them there to process for a bit. “Well…” Rass says after a long moment.
“We’re a part of a branch,” Puck says.
“No, we ARE the branch,” Smitt says, looking a bit irritated. “The tree took us and made us a part of it… we’re legendary, now.”
“Legendary,” Rass says, “I like the sound of that.”
“Everything legendary usually takes a ton of work to get,” Smitt says. “I don’t remember working that hard, do you?”
“Yeeeah… no, not particularly,” Rass says after thinking for a long moment. “We spent a while barely existing, didn’t we?”
SS: Legendary Ascension - Relan
In pursuit of the end, the pursuit of information and answers to the endless questions that appeared constantly. Relan stood in front of what appeared to be a door, much like her own door back home. It was a door that had several twisting lines and shapes, vaguely like that of a tree, curling around the frames and invading every surface of the door. Letters appear along the lines, fading then glowing, back and forth, several sentences pass before the door itself dims.
She knows it’s asking her to step through and see what was on the other side. Explore the new landscape without hesitation and find the answers to all that she seeks. The endless questions with dead end answers or more questions. She lets the papers she held in her hands fall to the ground and sink into it. Disappearing, oblivion. Her eyes travel from the door to the ground, letters appearing and floating up. It’s all information she had known before, but it was still fascinating, watching
[l-002] the adventurous kingdom
This time, when Kaori finally touches down on her kingdom again, she knows it is hers.
The night sky greets her with its litany of stars along with the crackling of the campfire she is always so fond off. A ways from the clearing is the wagon, still without rope or horses attached to it and so it is stuck, stationary, at the edge of the forest clearing.
Now, however, Kaori no longer leaves the horseless wagon alone. She jumps on top of it, spreading the flames from her feet onto the wood, and it catches ablaze so beautifully that Kaori has to take a moment and revel in it, her handiwork. Through the fire she can see the wagon begin to crumble, but also reconstruct. The wood planks fall off from the places they were in before and rearrange, building a whole new wagon that is much more compact than before. But there are no longer any space for horses.
Kaori just smiles and stomps down on the new wagon again, igniting fire at its new back and propelling it forward, out of the forest. It c
