Description:

The M10 is the result of a joint venture between General Dynamics Land System and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in the early 22nd century, named after the famous Third World War American war hero Lieutenant  David "Hell raiser" Harris , the M10 is a formidable main battle tank.

The M10A2 is an upgrade of the original M10 MBT, the M10A2 was first introduced into service toward the end of July 2135. The first major changes to the platform was replacement of the coaxial 30mm auto cannon with a 8.5mm machine gun and a 30mm light weight auto cannon was mounted on the top rear of the turret making it 2 tons lighter than the M10 or M10A1.

The gun on this tank is a Combustion Light Gas Gun M276 140mm L50 cannon with a bore evacuator making sure no residual fumes enter the crew compartment. The 140mm cannon can fire HEAT, SABOT, and Buckshot styled rounds most often holding 14 rounds of each ammunition type. The ammunition is in the bustle and hull where fuel would more traditionally be held. Thanks to its fusion reactor means the tank have no need to refuel. By using Hydrogen gas bled off from the tank’s fusion reactor, ammunition is truly caseless and can’t cook off. The gun breach injects hydrogen behind the round and launches it at speeds traditional propellants could never achieve. Rounds are loaded via an auto loader in-between the gunner and commander.

The gun is mated to a fully stabilized Doosan targeting computer able to provide HD images in a wide range of visual spectrums to both the gunner and commander. The gun is accurate up to 8km and can fire on the move over any possible terrain. Armor is a tungsten carbide composite making it extremely effective at dispersing plasma weaponry, HEAT, and sabot rounds.

The chassis and turret structure are made of fiberglass sandwiched between welded plates of aluminum with armor plates placed all over the tank. Over the frame of the tank are several centimeters of tungsten carbide plates filled over a carbon fiber honeycomb filled with liquid to help defuse the high temperature metals used in ATGMs. The side armor is rated for 1500mm of RHA and the front is 3500mm. Total weight of the tank with a full load out is 58 tons making it as heavy as a first generation MBT while offering protection superior to that of a 3rd or 4th generation MBT despite being larger than any previous MBT generation. The tank has two built in laser dazzlers meant to blind ATGM optics at the frontal arc. APS is built into the turret and the 30mm heavy machine gun can even shoot at missiles if need be, the M10A2 is also protected by a pair of Iron Curtain hardkill High Energy Laser Active Protection System.
