Chibi Trent - Black Horse

This is the first submission for a project that was suggested to me by . Because he was the one to come up with the general idea, I drew him first ^^

The project is to draw my closest friends as chibis. I decided to draw them riding on the animals that remind me of them. For Trent, a badass black horse is the first thing I think of.

I looked at a bunch of random reference images to see how horse armour is built, then I designed the actual shape of it myself. I designed chibi Trent's armour, as well, but it's fairly basic...

The background was terrible! I looked forever for good references and tutorials and ended up just winging it cause I couldn't find what I needed for the idea that was in my head. It turned out pretty close to my imagining ^^

I don't think I've ever worked so many hours straight through on a picture before...I worked at least 4 hours straight on the foreground. I did take lots of breaks during the background because I kept getting frustrated and I looked for help as I mentioned above.

Now that this is all done, I'm really proud I stuck it out and completed it as I had imagined! I need to keep this up. I need to work on doing more complete backgrounds, but in this instance, I wanted it to be a 'floating' background. I'll follow the same pattern for the rest of the project.
