I thought the game was developed in Unreal 4. Maybe i had access to the original model files, I could look into whats going on. If this is true, its possible to have multiple UV channels on the same model. Not sure how the ripping process is for Unreal, but I'd be interested in looking into that.
Is it possible that the fur mesh had 2 UVs? One for the colors and shading textures, and then another for the fur's alpha map? I noticed it was something that FFVII Remake did for Red's Mane and Fur, so it might be a similar case.
