Junker Ratchet - Final Color by straya Junker Ratchet - Final Color by straya
Done. Finally.

All I'm gonna say is that I'm really pleased...I feel like I was able to push myself farther than usual on this one...and that I learned a heck of a lot in the process. (Of course, the self loather within is already finding errors...but eh...typical.)

Oh, and Ratchet is a sexy mech. That is all.

Ratchet (c) Hasbro and Takara Co. Ltd.

Why do I find this Ratchet better looking than Movie Ratchet? Ok, so they're both good looking, but you get the idea.

I've read SC and RtG several times and I always end up stuck on chp14 on RtG. To be perfectly honest, I love the stories so much that I am eager to see if the Junkers will ever get home.

I know it seems like I'm becoming impatient, but I'm not. I'm just excited and I love it too much to even ignore it. You have personal issues and I respect that. Quite frantically speaking I just hope that you do manage to get back on your feet and finish off what's left of your story.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

It did take me a few times to try and understand what has happened, but now that I do, I can only hope that you're ok. You have a remarkable talent for doing this and it gives me an even clearer detail on what is going on. :D

Wow, I LOVE that picture... Everything is well done: The pose, the lineart, the colors, lightnings and shadows... and ... WHAT A SEXY MECH! lol ;) (My QuickSpin is :jawdrop: [link] (she's a character from the :icontransformers-halo: fans project)

How do you work? Everything on computer or you draw on paper first??? I'm asking because I'm still learning to draw cartoon style and transformers and I'm not sure I'm working the good way...

Well thanks for sharing you great talent with us ! You're a good example for me... :)
straya Featured By Owner Jul 14, 2009  Hobbyist General Artist
Ratchet is quite the sexy mech! ;) That character QuickSpin of yours...likes Ratchet, does she? Or maybe just this version? LOL XD

This image I drew in non-photo blue on card stock, inked it by hand and scanned it to color in Photoshop. Most of my art is done that way, really, mostly because I ink faster the old fashioned way than I do using a computer.
CaroRichard Featured By Owner Jul 30, 2009  Professional General Artist
HAHAHA That's funny! You're saying this and we are curently role playing a story were Ratchet keep is spark just for her... and thanks for the hint about scanning in black and white only... that works well! Still have to do some clean up, but that's really better like that...
CaroRichard Featured By Owner Jul 14, 2009  Professional General Artist
Hum... QuickSpin thinks her "boss" is "hot and smexy" (she often blushes when he speaks to her in the medbay... ;) ) lol

When you scan your pictures, your lines stay that clean??? :O Because when I do that, my lines aren't fully black but a mix of different gray shades and the outline isn't clean enough... I have to pass over all the picture to clean it up redrawing almost everylines to keep only the darkest part of it darkening the rest...
straya Featured By Owner Jul 14, 2009  Hobbyist General Artist
Ah! Hehe. Well, can't say I blame her. XD

Most of the time they do. I usually scan at 300 dpi in black and white. If the lines aren't completely black, I adjust them using "curves" in Photoshop. (Should be under the same menu area as brightness/contrast and those other adjustment options if that's the program you use, as well.) I only really use Micron pens to do my inking, too. Those usually give pretty consistently black lines.

Ok ! Thanks for the advice ! I'll try that next time... beeing "coached" by such a great artist is an honour ! ^^ really... ;)

woooow. me likey a lotty! the overall picture is excellent and i LOVE jaraxis's (?) positioning!

and if i wasn't in such strong denial that the movie never really existed, i might read your fic! but reading it would probably mean that i would first have to admit that the movie DID in fact exist and that *sniff* ratchet died in the first eight minutes.... WITH NO SPEAKING PARTS!! *cries. alot*
straya Featured By Owner Mar 31, 2008  Hobbyist General Artist
Well, the fic that pic is based on is all about the dead Autobots coming back to life... It's my own personal fanon at this point, so much so that I rather reject canon that says otherwise. ^^;

O.O Wow. I wish I could draw like this... but, as my gallery indicates, I cannot draw worth scrap. My best are barely three-dimensional, I can't shade worth beans, and drawing hands is out of the question. In short... I suck at drawing

Awesome drawing! *is fan of your fanfics*
