V and Evey in the Shadow Gallery.

It took me a bit longer to finish than originally planned because of the reference I had to gather, as well as having my scanner constantly locking up on me (*insert frustrated glare here*).

Anyway, out of all the V thumbnails I sketched up, this is the one my husband liked the most. So that kind of prompted me to finish this one first :)

Heh, the trick of the hands is great, by the way. It looks like V is holding both swords, until I notice the gloved hand on Evie's hip, then it all adds up. Clever look! :D

Hey I've seen this one before. My guess is before I knew you as well as I do now. Which, um, isn't really much better than a year ago other than being a fan of your work, of course, but I dig it all the same!

This is one of my favorite depictions of V and Evey that I have ever seen. The look of pure contentment on her face and his rigid-still-in-protector-mode are so beautiful! You did a wonderful job with this piece; the sheer amount of detail is mind-blowing and a treat to look at! Fabulous!

Swordplay; verb; - "the art of fencing and charming women at the same time."

This is really cool art, I'd die to see it coloured.

Now, just how wonderful is this....let me count the ways.... :)
Let's start with those beautiful clean lines and the touches of blackness that really make V stand out: the texture in his jacket and the shine on his hair and boots. Then those poses. :) It looks just so very natural - I envy anyone who can draw someone with their arm curved up in that position and not make it look forced!
And the gothic lines of the architecture in the background are very cathedral-like, almost severe: gives a real contrast to the almost playful pair in the forground.

Just lovely. :floating:

Hello! I just wanted to let you know that this picture inspired my own [link] . Thanks for drawing such a beautiful depiction of V/Evey! :D (And if for some reason, you think I'm not giving credit where it is due or if you are so disgusted with my rendering and would rather not be referenced in my description, lemme know and I will change it to appease you!)

Your detail is fantastic. I mean, this is inks, so it's not like you're quite in there yet. But you really can feel the picture, it pulses through you. You took the time to detail every little bit to such an extent that at first glance, I was running my fingers over the monitor just because it looked so delicate.

I mean, you can really feel the texture. You can tell those vases are delicate, carved with only the most beautiful detail one could imagine. And then your eyes switch to the knights armor, and you can just feel the shine. You know the material is metal, that it's hard and smooth, that it's sturdy. You could clack your heels against that floor, you know it's stone and the cracks really enhance the feel, I mean hell, I'm a loser, I just draw squares and hope they pass as stone. But you go the whole nine yards! You even got the little cracks and imperfections! Lovely! It's stone, you textured that very nicely with inks. But then your eyes switch to the door and instantly, INSTANTLY you know its wood, it's hard, you can knock on it. Ow, I got a splinter!

Look at Evey's expression. With that alone, I don't even have to look at the rest of her body to know she's just in paradise. She's happy, she's in love, she's excited, she's calm, she's just loving where she is, when she is, who she is, what she is and why she is the way she is. It's really beautiful, and I never thought anything more then a line as the eyebrows was attractive on a lady, but that's not true, is it? Her smile is gorgeous, she REALLY looks like Natalie Portman. And you know I love how you draw hair, it's beautiful and curly and yummy. Her outfit's cute, but I love the sneakers. Can I have a pair? They're really gorgeous.

I dunno. Evey looks so real, and V seems like a robot. Not in the bad way, but you seemed to capture who he is. He's very stiff, very solid and very smart. The vest is very nice, same with the floofy material on the arms. I bet its silk, I wanna touch it. But the swords are very nice too, especially his, it's very perspectivy, one could feel it coming out at them, that's pretty cool. You always manage his mask so well! Mean, the eyes are a bit small, but other then that it always comes out great! By his pose alone, you know what he's thinking. He's in love. He's shy, maybe slightly reluctant, but that's only a human emotion, a reaction to change. God damnit stop being so good at hair you make us simple folk look like fools.

I'm sorry, I can't help but stare at the painting's in the background. They're just so awesome, especially the one of I think Shakespeare? Well just wow. I mean, that's amazing. You actually have to patience to sit there and draw them. How big is this drawing? I mean, you're an expert with detail. I hope you know that. Adieu~

Ahh, another detailed review; I thrive on them! :D

Thanks much for the comments. You're absolutely right that Evey seems more real and alive, whereas V is much stiffer and robotic-like. That is the great contrast between the two characters that I love, and it's something I was trying to capture. I honestly can't see V as anything but guarded and robotic when he's in Evey's presense (movie-wise, anyway). He's vulnerable, shy, very guarded and trying not to show much emotion. The guy is basically one big bottle of angst wearing a mask. Heh.

This piece is 11" x 17" in actual size. I took some liberties with the background, so they're not exactly as they appear in V's Gallery. The portrait on the left is actually of King Charles I. I also threw a nod to Tom Baker's Doctor in there, just for kicks :)
