Remus and Tonks Sketch by stratosmacca Remus and Tonks Sketch by stratosmacca
Just a quick sketch that I took into Photoshop to add gray tones to. Because Remus and Tonks are awesome and my favorite Harry Potter characters and I love them... and they got shafted in the Half-Blood Prince film and their subplot was completely scrapped :(

Seriously, if you hadn't read the novels would you even have known they were a couple based on the oh-so-subtle hints we were given in the film during their five minutes of screen time?

Boo, HBP film, boo!

But at the very least they reference it. (They HAVE to. Or the ravenous fangirls would be up in arms.)

I agree with you 100%. After my friend and I had been watching the movie we went to the café, and my friend had to calm me down all the time, I was so angry... I waited HBP almost only for Remus and Dora, and all we got was one quick "sweetie". :disbelief:

I know what you mean! I was so upset that they didn't focus more on their relationship. I mean, the only hint at their relationship was when Tonks called Remus sweetie. :P

I'm still upset that we missed out on the epic battle/hospital scene/whole romantic subplot, and instead they randomly burned down the Weasley house. Not cool. The whole reason I liked HBP so much was for all the Remus/Tonks drama.

And I really love how you've drawn them here, btw - totally faving. Possibly one of my fave of these two ever, actually. Great job lol.

Thanks so much! And I definitely know what you mean. I actually didn't start reading the books until the fifth movie came out, and I was only talked into reading them because I wanted to see what happened with Snape. But once I was finished with the entire lot, Remus and Tonks emerged as my favorite characters.

I was really disappointed with their lack of screentime in the HBP film, and the complete omission of their subplot.

I'm listening to the Deathly Hallows audio book now to give myself a refresher, and I will be absolutely crushed if they cut them out of these next two films too.

See for my, Remus was my fave from book 3 on, and then he got together with Tonks (and there was much rejoicing) my other favorite. So it worked out nicely lol.

Haha I came home and reread select parts of HBP, just to reassure myself that all of it did indeed happen.

And I'm sincerely hoping that since we're getting 2 movies worth of Deathly Hallows, all the Remus/Tonks + Teddy gets included. After HBP, I'm holding out for the scene at Shell Cottage *crosses fingers*

totally agree.
but that's why the "films" have to be seen as something separate from the books.
because, as we all can plainly see, they are not the same thing.
BOO HBP, BOO!

Yeah, that's one thing I have to remind myself before I see the films-- have to make sure I separate the two so I can enjoy them as different entities.

But still, boo on the HBP film for the lack of Remus/Tonks. Hope the next couple films are at least truer to the books!

I know! I know! Damn, that made me so angry! I was looking forward to the scene where you find out that Tonks' patronus is a wolf (not to mention the entire subplot), and then the only hints of them being a couple they gave were them going home together and her incongruously calling him "darling" in the middle of an action scene!

Rrgh.

That said, they look awesome here, and their characters come out perfectly, especially with the expressions and body language--It's great.

Yes, I was (and still am) so bitter about all that. I guess we should be glad they were even in the movie at all! Blah.

It doesn't exactly make me very hopeful that we'll see them much in the last two films. Sigh.

I have another drawing of the two of them I'm working on, based on one of the scenes in the HBP novel. Been listening to the audio book and it's reminding me of everything that was cut from the film :(

It's a bitter comfort to know that they'll have to at least show up for their death scene.

I went to see it in theatres a couple of nights ago and I think the only reason I really enjoyed it at the time was that I hadn't read the book in over a year and so only started realising how much they'd left out when I started talking to people afterward. (Also, Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham Carter were great. So, you know.)

Oh yeah, Alan Rickman and Helenda Bonham Carter were awesome. Nice to see Snape getting more screentime.

But yes, I'm assuming they'll be in the last couple films (since we got to see at least five minutes of them in HBP). I wonder if we'll at least get to see a death scene with them-- at least if it was emotional/noble, it would be better than what JKR gave us in the DH novel.

But will they completely omit their marriage in the films? Teddy? Harry giving Remus a verbal bitchslap for walking out on Tonks?

SO much they could still leave out, even with two bloody films to work with! FRUSTRATING.

It may cost them their lives to leave the famous bitchsslap out--like in the fourth movie where they put in "Malfoy the amazing bouncing ferret", if only because raging fans would have overrun the studios if they hadn't.

I agree, Lupin's face looks very intense and focused and determined in a "Don't mess with the werewolf's woman" kind of way.

You were right about leaving in the sketchiness of the original rough; the gray tones overlaying it give it a nice fluid sense of movement.

So cute! I love these two. The camp where I work has theme days and last Wizard Wednesday the entire staff dressed up as Harry Potter characters. (yeah, I have the best job in the world) I claimed Tonks, and I was so happy.

HBP film was only good if you didn't remember the book. They cut out some pretty crucial plot elements, and some of the best parts of the book... and there were so many awkward pauses and slowly delivered lines they had SO MUCH time to do a lot of the stuff they left out... so sad.
