Karl Power by stratosmacca Karl Power by stratosmacca
At the Baltimore show this weekend, I wanted to get a sketch of Karl the Mothman from Todd Dezago and Craig Rousseau's Perhapanauts comic series (he's my favorite character!), and Craig agreed, but wanted one from me too. So we decided to trade Karl sketches.

Of course, the trade was definitely not an even one, because the piece I got in return was Craig's beautiful artwork of Karl from the 'Haps card series. My work is not even close to matching that.

I drew Karl as he appeared in the beginning of issue #2, during Karl's dream sequence. I would've grayscaled it out, but I didn't have my Prismacolors with me, sadly.

Next time I'm gonna give Craig a better sketch!

Hey, Rico! Thanks! They might've been talking about the pin-up I showed them. I just uploaded the inks for that.

Were you at the Baltimore show this past weekend? Todd said you'd be there, so I was going to track you down and say hello, but I didn't get to walk around as much as I wanted :(

Yep, that was it! The pin-up that is. Going to look at it as soon as I'm done typing this!

I was there, my day job sets up and I manned the table for them all weekend. So, I also did not get much of a chance to walk around, sorry I missed you! Todd said I literally JUST missed you at their table when I came by.

Aww. Well, maybe next time! Will you be at Heroes next year? I will definitely be at Heroes and Baltimore again. And possibly another show or two.

I'll be at Heroes most likely, I've been every year since 97! Baltimore for sure since I love about 10 minutes away!!

Actually, I'm glad you didn't grayscale it because it suits being inked solidly like this. Its very striking. And I'm going to join with Danielle and tell you that you never give yourself enough credit. This piece is on par with Craig's great work. It is at the very least CLOSE to matching it. Your modesty can be really frustrating to live with sometimes. ;-)
