Playground fuses metal and wood, pure and purified meeting like so many faces
United against expectations, assumptions, records removed from the needle.
One step separates structure from serenity, solid ground easily divided like any man
Beyond whatever walls may exist in this place whose heart beats within and beyond soil.
Tickled branches like giggling youngsters, echoes spraying sun over the highway
Unique to this slice of humble pie, contents I still ingest as they win me over.
A younger me would've delighted in getting lost, house of learning in fact a temple
Welcoming quest lovers with a plethora of portals overseen by gentle guardians.
Somewhere my seed is still extending its roots, impact lost only if I decide
What could've been will reign supreme above flowers I witnessed rising higher.
Their light is still inside of me, asking to be let out of the cage I can crush at any time,
Footprints stepping into dirt to make one of a hundred trails leading somewhere new.
No more "mights," only the might of one who slowly rubs red wrists no longer chained.
Farewell to "what if," hello to "what's next" which might be the brightest light in sight.

I wrote this so I can set myself free. Six months haunted by the job I could've held onto. Six months that could turn into six more. But I'm not letting that happen. I am releasing myself from this guilt, just as everyone around me has.
I came to your page curious. Thank you for this poem. It is Inspiring.
