The dark occurences at Svartediket - EpilogueEpilogue: Utferd
End of autumn
It’s been a week now. I can’t believe it’s been a week already.
The wind is stirring today, blowing in from the North Sea. Yet, I still find it calming to sit here out all alone, by myself. And I felt that today was the day to start writing again.
My mind is still fighting me, bringing up thoughts of what I experienced up in Isdalen. Still I find myself waking up from the laughter, crying, and singing of children. From images of their skulls being bashed in, and their bodies sinking down, deeper and deeper. There hasn’t really been a lot of sleep at all, and even Amalie has shown her concerns, trying her best to help me. Sadly, none of them have helped very much, but I do appreciate her effort.
In the meantime, I’ve been given cocaine from the doctor to help me cope with the frightening images. It has helped a little, but still not enough. I am thinking of increasing the dose a bit tomorrow if
8 Facts About AlejoOk, so recently we talked about Athelstan, and now it's time to let you know 8 facts about Alejo.
From the very beginning Alejo was supposed to be contrast to other characters of the project, both visually and mentally. But, at the same time, now he isn't inferior to them in the complexity of his personality. I can't describe how happy I am that despite his wild image and some questionable details of his bio he has got a few fans, seriously. And I hope that after you read this journal you'll find even more reasons to like him :}
8 FACTS ABOUT ALEJO
Fact 1. I'm sure that some of you are wondering how he can have a tattoo at all, being a furry, and why he has chosen a large image of the Aztec Eagle to cover the actually small stigma that used to be on his back.
Answering the first question, I must say that the tattoo on Alejo's back was made according to one really existing but very painful and time-consuming technique that
8 Facts About AthelstanA few months ago, I was tagged by two different people to share 8 facts about Athelstan and Alejo (before that, Mads had tagged me to describe 8 facts about Oksana, centuries ago, but I still don't have enough interesting info on her, sorry ).
I'm going to start with Athelstan. 8 facts about Alejo will appear in the next journal, because otherwise it's going to take me too much time to translate everything in one day.
8 FACTS ABOUT ATHELSTAN (and some of them will surprise you)
Fact 1. Talking about his religious preferences, he considers himself a Buddhist, like mentioned in the ref. However, he believes that he cannot be called a true Buddhist yet: he thinks he isn't enough pure or ascetic, nor does he work enough on himself - especially now that he has to be part of the terrible war.
Away from war events, he's extremely peaceful and non-conflict, voluntarily preferring to be content with
The dark occurences at Svartediket - chapter 3Chapter 3: Nothing
A tiny rain drop fell on Basil’s snout. Then another one. Two. Six. Amalie felt it too. They both looked up, and saw that the sky that was clear and blue just mere minutes ago had been covered up by dark heavy clouds on their way East. But in order to do so, they had to lose some weight. And when you live in a city surrounded by seven mountains, heavy rain is an everyday occurrence. They hadn’t brought an umbrella, so they had to run back to the docs as fast as they could to dodge it. However that was easier said than done, since the rain drops were big and heavy, forming puddles in seconds. When they returned to the loft, having left a trail of water behind them upstairs, their clothes felt like iron, and they were clinging to their bodies. “Oh, great.” Amalie sighed a little grumpy, walking over to the wash pot standing by her wardrobe, trying to get as much water out of her hair as possible. “Now I have to stay inside for the rest of
The dark occurences at Svartediket - chapter 2Chapter two: A fatal clue
“Good day, priest.” Basil said, doing a small bow to pay his respects. If not, there would probably become an episode out of it. He wasn’t Christian himself; not anymore, at least, but he knew how to pretend. Amalie also did a small curtsey. “I am Basil Ikum, the new detective of Bergen. Designated by Lensman Sebastiansen himself. This here is my assistant, Amalie. We are here on behalf of one of your theologists, Theodor Deinarn. He never returned home yesterday. We were wondering if you knew anything about about where he could be.
The priest’s ears -that were very small, smaller than usual- folded, and his smile turned into a that of a sad expression. “You are the second ones that have visited me on his behalf. His family came by 30 minutes ago. They had received my letter. Please come with me.” He walked outside, the big door closing behind him with a slight bump, and let Basil and Amalie behind the store house. The
The dark occurences at Svartediket - chapter 1Chapter 1: A valley of ice
About an hour afterwards, Jakob left Basil with his ears a bit more lifted, still worried about his son, whose name he had told Basil was Theodor, but nonetheless reassured that Basil would find him. The rain had worn off a bit, so his walk back to Lungegaarden would be a lot easier. He had told Basil that he would pray to God for him to find Theodor, But Basil didn’t give it much of a thought. That people wanted to worship the Christian way, he was okay with. That was their business. Yet still he didn’t attend church, read the Bible, or sing any psalms. He didn’t even pray. Most of them, he had forgotten by purpose. During the national romantic period from the decade before, Basil had begun to pick up more and more interest for Norway’s old pagan roots. Stories about the many Gods of Ásgard, Þórr, Óðinn, Loki, and Freyja were far more interesting, more immersive, and more captivating than any of the Biblical s

The life on the Western coast of Norway had always had always had me relaxed. Sure, it was one of the biggest cities in the country, and there is sounds of people everywhere – which is something I hate by the way -, whether it’s from the docks, where ships and boats of various shapes and sizes come by almost every day to deliver their fish to the Hanseatic warehouses, or chanting children in the courtyard during the day, switched by cutthroats and low-lives during the night. But there is something by the Western coast that has always enchanted me. Maybe it’s the smell? The thick black tar smeared into the wooden planks of every board in the docks, the salt coming from the ocean, and the humid air, the constant raining… It does something to you. It calls to you. Wants you
