Description
Filled in lots of the details -- staircases, railings, pillars, etc. Changed the POV to closer match the actual image (this still needs tweaking) and rendered as a test render with a soft-shadow array (Brycean soft shadows don't seem to do much.)
Next step: finish the buildings and add the monks, render at higher res, texturing, possible background.
Still all brycean primitives.

Yeah, the lighting is a bit screwy atm. It's in the process of being tweaked, and I'll probably add a floodlight to make it brighter overall as well as adding a light where you said.
And, Josh, the camera's positioning is critical for making it appear to match up. In the final I'll probably crop the scene so it appears in the center. Or something. The position needs to be change more, too, because the angles of the scene are noticeably off compared to the original Escher image.
