And, what is the real cost of soup?:

-Loss and devastation of shark populations around the world. Experts estimate that within a decade, most species of sharks will be lost because of longlining.

-Unsustainable fishery. The massive quantity of sharks harvested and lack of selection deplete shark populations faster than their reproductive abilities can replenish populations.

-Threatens the stability of marine ecosystems.

-Loss of sharks as a food staple for many developing countries.

-Local waters are invaded by large industrial, foreign fishing vessels that threaten traditional sustainable fisheries.

-Threatens socio-economically important recreational fisheries.

-Obstructs the collection of species-specific data that are essential for monitoring catches and implementing sustainable fisheries management.

-Wasteful of protein and other shark-based products. Up to 99 per cent of the shark is thrown away.

SAVE A SHARK TODAY, SPREAD THE WORD!

Shark Fact of the week:

Did you know that the single known specimen of the Irrawaddy river shark was generally dismissed as an abnormal bull shark until 2005?

Well, as you have seen, I just made a little concept sketch of our possible group mascot. Yeah, I know the group is still very small, but this may just give us some hope that many people will join and do their best in trying to protect sharks and other marine life around the world.
The concept sketch is only a basic idea of how it could look like, I will be later coloring it in Photoshop. But I really first need to know what YOU think about it, and give your own opinions and possible colors. You can even suggest a species! (the shark sketch I made is pretty much of a Caribbean reef shark, but I want YOU to express your personal opinion)So, what are you waiting for! If you have an idea or opinion, don't be shy and tell us what you think about it. I will then be trying out different sketches (with the ideas you said) and post them here, from there the whole group will choose one of them, and the mascot design will be official!

Hello,

I just signed the petition, "Tell Congress to Support a USA Ban on Shark Fin, Without Exemptions."

I think this is important. Will you sign it too?

Here's the link:

Thanks

you have a troll who posts in your group, name is tedcruz. I suggest erasing their art, reporting them a few times, and kicking them out of the group. What they do is not art, and is offending people. Take a look at their deviations, and you will understand... Unless you know of them already, then you should know what I mean and help to kick them off deviantart again. Though, I don't believe you want them posting this stuff if your group.

After hearing some of the people at my school talking about how shark finning was okay because they "kill tons of people", and my math class working on a probability section, I made this comic about how sharks are much safer than the public thinks they are: [link]
Nothing makes people stfu like numbers :P
