'Twas the night before Christmas'🌕🎄👄🦇
A section from Chapter 1📖🤓:
'As the two coroner officers begin to load Louise's body into the coroner vehicle, Renée glances down toward the scene, with Fournier and Rousseau still present. Her hearing pins in on their location, picking up every word they speak. The coroners begin to drive off to take the body (along with the other five) to the morgue. Renée turns her body slightly, and focuses more closely with her vision; like that of a dragon's vision, zoomed in on the two Detectives, with hearing to back it up.
“Six men killed, known to police, and all armed with pistols”, “The only other people in the area at the time, is a woman, about five foot six, maybe seven”, “Her fiance, about five foot nine, eighty five, to ninety kilos at most...Hmm”, exhaling heavily. “What are you getting at, Fournier?”, asks Rousseau. “Seriously Rousseau”, “Do you even consider that young couple could injure, little know kill six men, and not have a knife or bullet to show for it?”, says Fournier. “I get your point”, “I wasn't trying to be rude, I'm just baffled as to what really happened here”, replies Rousseau.
“There's one thing that has troubled me since we got here”, says Fournier. “What's that?”, replies Rousseau. Fournier takes three slow steps where Louise's blood still puddles on the concrete. He then turn to Rousseau, “No bullet wounds”, “No recognised knife wounds”. “It's as if they were killed buy a large animal”, he states. “If it was, we would have seen it”, “Or anyone else who may have been in the area”, replies Rousseau. “That's the point”, says Fournier, “Most large, predatory animals remain with their kill”, “Not abandon it, and chase after another prey”. “They stick to their kill”. Rousseau now begins to see the point Fournier is trying to make. “Hired assassins, mercenaries maybe?”, he asks. “Maybe”, “I just know those two had nothing to do with the killings”, “But I do have my suspicions for the woman, she's hiding something as to what happened here tonight”, says Fournier. “Most women after a scene like this one, would be in deep shock or at least shaking a little”, he says. “Good point”, replies Rousseau, “What do you want to do, Fournier”, he asks. “Go back to the station, and question her some more”, “And her fiance while we're at it, there has to be something they saw”. “Six men killed, fifty to a hundred mitres apart in all directions, and not see a thing?” “I don't believe so!”, replies Fournier. “Come on”, “Let's get the night done, and go for an early morning coffee”, says Fournier. “That sounds like a good idea, I could use a good coffee right about now”, says Rousseau. “I'll question the fiance”, “I'll leave the woman to you”, states Rousseau. “Why do you say that?”, asks Fournier. “You seem to have a good bearing on this than I have, at the moment”, “She doesn't seem to be the stupid type to me”, replies Rousseau. “Fair enough”, says Fournier, as they both get into their car, and slowly drive away from the scene'.
'As they continue on down the avenue, Renée looks up slightly and out in the direction the police car that took Briseis and Jean. She straightens her back up slowly, turns back to the moon, now touching the horizon, and pauses, pondering deep in thought for a minute or so, on Briseis's possible past and history. “I must talk to Briseis again real soon, find out more about her”, “She could possibly be a descendent of someone who knew of me centuries ago, and had the knowledge passed down over the generations”. “I sensed her lack of fear for my presents, but felt a stronger sense of trust for me”, “How far back does she know, I cannot say.” “All in good time, I think her and Jean have seen enough of me, for now”, with a chuckle to herself.'👄🧛👑🩸
