DOUGLAS GRANT xx ACCEPT ME FOR ME

This is the 1st stage of the project I'm doing on a Aboriginal named Douglas Grant (aka Poppin Jerry). I was'nt too sure how to lay this one out, so I went for a spriritual approach for it. I placed 3 ancestors of Aboriginal culture at the top, a young woman & a mother on the right, & 2 children on the left. I am happy with how this part came out. I have shown it to some members of the Aboriginal community, they like the artwork, but not too happy about the fact that the museum is digging up old wounds in a sence. This is why this project (1 of 6 drawings) has been set with very dark tones, to indicate the culture, but not too detailed due to the lack of resourses on this man. It's been a touchy project to be asscociated with. Don't get me wrong, it's great to be able to work with my art, but the circumstances have been a little uncomfortable at times. Anywhoo, hope you all like it & look forward to your opinions or ideas that may help out with future works on the Aboriginal culture, I know they are very sacred on this type of issue.
