i like the bright strip across her eyes, my own keep returning to that one thing. there was a movie where all the vampires (i think it was vampires?) had a constant light shining across their eyes like that. i don't remember the movie, just that effect...

crinkled paper. trailing a finger through thick dust. looking in the mirror and catching a glimpse of something behind you in the reflection--what?--no, just a shadow, now anyway.

the obscuring of the face makes her so doll-like. the pixellation of the dark shape behind her creates a folded angel wing. the white straightjacket resembles a simple heavenly garment. the innocence of the touched; the insane.

the haunting newspaper clippings are a sharp juxtaposition to the serene. i get a feeling of tarnish, of decay, of something brilliant dulled. cruel ghosts taking their toll. the highlight is on her eyes, but her mouth is completely in shadow. she sees it all, but cannot say. i am drawn to this... maybe i can relate.

this makes me think of the way wood smells when it's wet. old wood.

comments like this are the reason i keep coming back here.
SO few people have that odd synesthesia... i do too...
mine usually is a sight gives me a recollection/memory flash
then i get that smell thing going.

the oils i wear as cologne, are all spooky things.
with names like "crypt moss" or "old mill" or my favorite 'holy terror"

i bring this up, cause they make these oils...and put images with them. odd associations...like the aforementioned is cedar, old candlewax, smoke, and something sweet i can't place.
but you'd nail it.

we need to combine forces and create our own line of haunted scents.
we'll start with eastern pa scents by season, and work our way west.

join me, and we shall be rich, and gluttonous!

you're on.

first one i want to make? pumpkin vine/flower :giggle: but shoot some pumpkin scent in there too.

gluttonous! *oinks*

omg we could get one of those carnival cars......and peddle the wares as we move west. we can use the internet, sure...but the old fashioned way is more fun.

I kinda wish it had more text, but I like this one. I like the low light and lo-fi style of it. Very beautiful work!
I loved the description too. It's so amphetamine psychosis.

....amphetamine logic?
that's something i've never been through....more of a depressant, deleriant , fever dream experiencer ,myself LOL
and the full text appears...way back when here: [link]
thanks again...lot's of folks miss the text in my images....it's been a theme for 15 years now...and so many people miss that part!

The cognitive-behavioral symptoms displayed in the painting are very similar to that of amphetamine psychosis and Fever or drug induced delirium. Both of with, I've experienced and remember some parts quite vividly.
