edit: trixie being given away was retconned, as seen here: www.deviantart.com/mylittlegam…
but these moments all still happen!

1. Trixie here is around 7-8ish, maybe 10 who knows. But she's a young kid, and goddammit, she thought going to her dads' shows was the coolest thing ever. Obviously she has no memory of Night Light or Velvet or any of her siblings, she just knows that her dad is awesome and she makes sure to hand out fliers to let everyone know. Jackpot thought Trixie was sweet and amazing (also "Big Surprise?" Dumb name, new one here you go) and Big Bucks also adored the little con artist. She was perfect to bring in the cash when they pulled her out of a hat as a baby, and she's more perfect now that she can perform her own tricks. Obviously, the two bore paternal love for the little blueberry, and didn't see her as just something they could use for their shows. They were a family through and through, and had to suffer through the harshness of the show biz together, whether it meant staying in cardboard boxes or crashing on couches.

However, Trixie really wants more one on one time with her dads, especially Jackpot. They kind of have more of a work relationship, where he's the boss and...well, she does what he says so they don't have to sleep outside again. But when she does put the work in, and when they do finally get money, well they just throw it all away at some fancy hotel, and she's stuck in this big suite all alone while they go do "adult things."

When they do find time to be together and just be father and daughter, it's great....it's just not often enough. But she's strong, right? He always says so, and she knows it's true. She's a Lulamoon, ready to fight anyday. Best tricks, best tactics--nothing could bring her down! Their fans were growing, more people were showing up to the shows--they were stars.... so why was she so lonely despite being the center of the stage?

fun fact: Big Bucks and Jackpot mostly homeschool Trixie, convinced that she only needs "the essentials" like math, the bare sciences, and reading. While this is true and she stubbornly refuses to finish her education in the modern day, it is 100% why she has a hard time getting jobs without record of even a high school diploma.

2. So.... when Trixie is 16ish Big Bucks accidentally spills the big beans and she practically beats the names of her estranged family out of him. He may be great at lying and conning literally everyone, but he's a softie when it comes to his sweet blueball. Jackpot doesn't know about her figuring out her "actual" family until its too late.

3. Trixie goes on a huge mega journey, leaving nothing but an angrily written note she made in the dead of night for her dads: "Going to find my REAL family." She didn't really plan on coming back, but she wasn't much of a detective, so the amount of time she was gone was more or less out of inability to read maps properly and from missing trains. This time in her life was extremely frustrating and hard given her only talents were doing performances on the side of the street for money, and if she was lucky it'd get her a sandwich for the week.

But finally, FINALLY she ends up in Canterlot, and finds the address....and of course, decides to spy on the whole family for a few days before she just goes up to them. But, one night, when she's itchy and spying in the bushes, she sees the true distance between her and her Canterlot kin.

And so she sees her. What she could've been. Twilight Sparkle. Sitting quietly, studying for her magic school endeavors with THE Princess Celestia. She has a room all to herself, three meals a day, a goddamn baby dragon for Tartarus' sake... her brother is a soldier in training, and her parents are esteemed professors and scientists. Things she'd never even dreamed of. All of this could have been hers, and yet her dad took her away from this just because he wanted a cute little prop for his shows. She bet Twilight didn't even know who she was, didn't care a bit and just...thought she was so, so much better than everyone.

But guess what Twilight? You had all that given to you. But Trixie? She's strong, she's great, she's powerful just like her dad says--her magic might not be stellar, but goddammit hard work has always been the way to go about it. The shows were small, but they're getting bigger, better....not because they were born as great magicians, but because they worked to be them! Y'know what? She doesn't need this! This comfortable life where you just get this and get all cozy in your glory! Trixie likes it to be difficult, because she can take it! She's no baby, she doesn't need this life, and she's going back to that crappy creaking caravan because that's where her real family is!

4. Trixie comes back when she's 17 and a half, as it's been a long, long soul searching journey for what she wants versus what she deserves, the life she could have lived versus the one she has, what she's more grateful for and who's fault it might be....but hey. Jackpot let's Trixie know when she comes back that of COURSE he loves her, and of COURSE if she really wanted to go up there and live all high and mighty with her siblings she could, but....that's not what a Lulamoon would do. The nit and grit was a part of her life she should be proud of, and he didn't want her to grow up to be a stuck up unicorn like those other Canterlotties. Hard work is something the unicorn race has forgotten, and hey, Trixie was the only estranged child he ever actually kept, and that was because he knew she was the one. Let's just say he saw a lot of himself in her. A nice little mini Jackpot.

Trixie was totally okay with this, as her idea of Lulamoon pride was kind've blocking the somewhat toxic undertones of his declaration that being comfortable is admitting weakness and he did her a favor by having her live this hard and lonely life, but its whatever..... and well...Big Bucks is kind've a sap, he's just glad their girl is back home with some new tricks to put in their next show. Forget all this sappy nonsense, let's go perform!
