As the daughter of two super geniuses, books had always been her friends. She was horrible at social interactions, ever since she was born. She was born completely silent, but completely healthy, and she often wouldn't cry unless she was held by someone who wasn't her parents. As she grew, this didn't change, and she stayed hiding behind her parents' legs if not the cover of a novel. Despite being so smart and such, when she went to school, she did horrible. The classroom setting being surrounded by strangers terrified her, and filled her with fear and shyness that distracted her from her work and caused her to fail again and again. Being the daughter of two smart professors, she felt even more scared and pressured to do well, although to no avail.

Her parents worried for her, but knew that she was bright and how grades weren't the problem...but that making friends was the problem. So they took her with them on their business trips and such in hopes that she would make some pals, but it wouldn't work for a while. Shockingly, Starlight was Silent's first friend as a kid (around 12/13ish), sharing in her interests of life and magical potential and theorums, ect... Twilight was glad that they were both learning friendship, but knew her daughter had to make more friends her age. But i after Starlight left leaving the family in shambles.... Silent was quieter than ever. Her first friend had been a bad person who hurt her parents. Obviously, this meant she was horrible at choosing friends, and that she didn't deserve any after that. She would just continue life as normal, trying desperately to keep to herself whenever all the mane kids met up came over to hang out.

But there's no hiding from Suave. Come later years, Suave showed up, and she talked a storm. She was nosy, intrusive, and constantly teleporting into her room to try and chat to her. They eventually became blabber buddies, but.... Silent had a gut feeling about Suave, that she wasn't right, that she wasn't here to apprentice in being friendlier either. Or maybe it was her anxiety...? But no, Suave was eerie, and silently picking apart her family and their friends' families... Silent Spectacle would run away to get help from someone who would hopefully believe her, because she knew she herself wasn't qualified for this at all.
