siblings galore

This week, if the gods allow it, I shall post things about many familial relations throughout the Gamiverse… siblings, cousins, and so on that I’ve concocted but brought no attention to until now!

First up, we have the Dash children. Dingo is the oopsie child of Quibble Pants and Rainbow Dash, and is one of the older nextgens in the cast. Dingo wasn’t aware Rainbow Dash was his mother until Quibble and Dash both sat him down as a teenager and told him.

It was a little confusing because Dingo saw Dash pretty often when she came to hang out with his dad, and the two of them always had a great time together. Dingo did enjoy his interactions with Rainbow and he saw her as a cool aunt or something. So learning that she was his mom was… weird, considering she was still involved in his life yet not too involved, it seemed. Still, learning he had half siblings was awesome!

Solar Power and Dingo

Solar Power, on the other hand, was not pleased to have a deadbeat somehow-famous loser half-brother who’s dad is an even bigger loser than him. But Dingo’s easy-going and kind attitude leaves him immune to the sharpest glares and scrunchiest of scowls. Solar Power cannot even imagine what possessed his mother to fornicate with Quibble Pants and create this kumbaya “everybody wins” hippie who likes playing stupid card games like Arcane the Congregation. Also, he's a part of the cheesiest band ever created. Dingo is the culmination of every trait Solar Power hates and now he has to see him at family gatherings. Is this karma for being so awesome and winning so often?

Dingo is 100% aware that Solar Power doesn’t favor him, and is doing his best to dismantle those walls that he has. Not everything needs to be a competition, just relaaaaax… How about instead of racing, we go cloud watching? No? You want to smash my head into a wall? Well, not the most family friendly activity, but if that’s how you want to express yourself… hey, where are you going?

Ultraviolet Supernova and Dingo

Supernova (used to be named Volcanic Spectrum, I changed it lol) is a lot more lenient with Dingo and is always extremely happy to see him. He really treats her like she’s his little sister and she loves it. Usually everything she’s a part of is so high-stakes and competitive that she can’t mellow out, and she finds herself feeling pathetic whenever she does. At least with Dingo she can just pretend she’s being nice for his sake, so that her family doesn’t look at her sideways when she eagerly accepts Dingo’s merch from Cupid’s Arrows or lets him take her to Make-A-Mouse to get a plushie.

Dingo can tell that the competitive scene is a lot for Supernova to handle, so he puts in his best efforts to make their chance visits worthwhile. He can tell she’s repressing a lot and hiding a lot, and he’s glad his calming presence has a positive effect on her.

Sunburst and Sun Flare

Sunburst has two siblings. Sunset Shimmer, his older sister who “mysteriously disappeared” according to his mother, and Sun Flare, his younger brother who unfortunately has not mysteriously disappeared as well. Before Sunset went away, she was an extremely promising protege of Celestia’s, someone who Sunburst always aspired to be. He doesn’t have many memories of her, as she was older and always busy, but she was always sharp and dedicated to her tasks.

Sun Flare, on the other hand, is extremely hedonistic, uncaring, always speaks in a backhoofed way that makes every compliment an insult, and now he has all the validation he can buy from being a rich pop star. Sunburst hates that he tried so hard his whole life only to fail at the finish line, meanwhile Sun Flare barely did anything to get to where he is.

Regarding the image above, Sunburst knows that Sun Flare just says the most annoying thing he can possibly think of whenever they meet, so he’s not entirely offended by what he’s saying when he implies that Burst only transitioned to “copy” him. He’s just appalled that Sun Flare even managed to make a heart-to-heart lunch conversation about his transition about him instead. Sunburst doesn’t know why he thought he could have an actual conversation with him for once and blames himself for thinking it was possible.

Meanwhile, Sun Flare genuinely pities Sunburst. It must not be easy having so many things go wrong. A gifted foal thrown into a new world of expectations, once a star but now burnt out… nothing to be ashamed of, not everypony can handle the spotlight like that. But Flare will be damned if he continues this family tradition of failing and running away. He hopes to serve as inspiration for his brother, and also as an assurance that he doesn’t have to try so hard now that the family is richer and happier than ever.

Yet Sunburst never uses his “my brother is famous” privilege. Never accepts the gifts or money that Flare so generously offers. For some reason, Sunburst is content to aimlessly roam around Equestria like some kind of poor nomad even though he’s right there. Is it that embarrassing to rely on his little brother for help? Whatever. If he doesn’t want to acknowledge him as his brother, then he’ll just treat him like everypony else…

I also want to clarify that Sun Flare isn’t transphobic, he simply genuinely believes that Sunburst wants to be him. LOL Had this been any other pony coming out to him, he wouldn’t have said something so unhinged. Sun Flare values identity and discovering oneself greatly. However he thinks Sunburst is incapable of even doing that...

edit: day 100... ive forgotten sunburst's glasses... but also i imagine sunburst wouldn't want to have a clear image of his brother anyway LMAO
