ITS BACK TO HORSES....because during this time mental health and distancing yourself from too much negativity is also valid, and writing about fictional horses and their lives makes me feel better
Cherry Jubilee and Wind Rider have been married for quite a while, they just never mention it to anyone because their relationship is held together only by a wedding ring and a similar interest in complaining about the kids they have. They hardly enjoy each others company like they used to, things just got shakier the more they revealed dark and dirty secrets about themselves to each other, what with Wind Rider rigging a lot or races and Cherry Jubilee ruining multiple marriages of visiting Apploosa tourists. Between loud arguments and long vacations away from each other, they both accepted that the other was an adulterous asshole yet still got mad about it anyway because it's more or less inconvienent to get DNA tests these days.
Wind Rider
Wind Rider is a very busy man, you know. As a retired Wonderbolt, he has many speeches to tell, conventions to attend, schools to inspire, invitations to balls, wine tasting parties.... the usual. When he finally decides to come back to his small country home in Apploosa after indulging in rich parties and young maidens, he makes sure to give his kids unwanted advice and pretend to be surprised when Cherry Jubilee has spent all their allowances for herself or is pregnant again. Of course, he wants his sons to be the spitting image of himself because he's simply quite the idol to pretty much everyone he meets, so his kids should strive to do the same. He's hard on them and says things like "Why can't you do this?" "Come on, I thought I taught you better than that." "Get off your ass and actually try!" He gets even more pissed if they bark back, so until he wins by being the loudest or making them cry, he lets them know that they're the reason he's never home. He eventually comes back hours later with the same apology so that Cherry will get off his back and he can get back to bonding with the kids so they can be as great as he is.

Cherry likes to beleive that she's still young. She frequently gets herself pregnant by unsuspecting men just so she can prove to herself: yep, still got it. She doesn't really care about the moral implications of this: after all, the guy doesn't need to know and she's also a great mother, what's the issue? Her kids are so independent they don't need her for anything, but when they do ask for stuff it's very annoying and she tells them to beat it and learn to do things themselves, but becomes irritated when they also don't want to spend time with her. She's a Level 100 hypocrite and spends too much time pretending to be a super supportive and kind mom at her kids' events and only being proud of them when they're at their absolute best, and struggles to be there for them when they're at their worst. Bad breakup? Well, honey, you must've done something wrong. Or maybe they just found a way better, hotter ponyt han you. Get revenge! Sleep with their siblings! You're being bullied? Stop being a baby. Wait, it's a boy? Maybe he likes you! You need some money to go do things? Goddammit, I give you a house to live in, food to eat--why are you always nagging me for more shit? Go do some work in the cherry farm and I'll CONSIDER giving you enough for an ice cream cone. Or you could get off your ass and get a real job in town instead of depending on me!
