Description

kicking things off with some fun facts/slight design changes for Vendetta...

Starlight had performed many, maaaany experiments on Vendetta. Some might consider them inhumane, extreme, unneccessary... (all true) HOWEVER, Starlight sees it as finally giving Vendetta true purpose, that being presenting herself as a sacrificial lamb in the name of pursuing the underside of magic. And also maybe she was being a little bit indulgent trying to figure out some things she had been wondering about.

One of those things Starlight often wondered was: is it possible to create an Alicorn? Technically, all alicorns are created. The power must be bestowed from another alicorn, however, according to her personal findings. So that meant it must be possible to replicate the process somehow, it would just need a looooot of magic. It was sort've a success. She had to mix in a few pegasus bones here and there and maaaybe throw in Changeling blood, but the result DID give Vendetta wings. However, they were very small, hardly functional, and kept molting despite all of Starlight's efforts. She would deem it a failure in the end, and now Vendetta has sad little deformed wings sprouting out of her back. Vendetta has tried to rip them off entirely, but they keep growing back, bone and all.

As for the power aspect, though Vendetta's horn and tail grew longer like that of an alicorn's, her inability to control her magic only grew worse. However, this was great for Starlight, because Vendetta being unable to use her magic meant she had plenty to share. She was basically a magic generator! Starlight could create all sorts of artifacts and magical trinkets by draining her daughter's magic and actually putting it to use. But to this day, Vendetta refuses to use her magic. Any time she succeeded lead to absolutely drastic results, so she simply doesn't do it.

Other things that Starlight has graced Vendetta include: the ability to regenerate from any injury. Minor injuries didn't take much time, and major injuries took at most a day. This was more or less for Starlight's convenience, not Vendetta's. An unexpected side effect was that things such as starvation or thirst were no longer an issue to Vendetta. Now if Starlight was busy doing things, she wouldn't come back to a dead lab rat, just a half dead one. This also meant injuries sustained during testing would easily heal, although Starlight really does her best not to injure Vendetta too severely. She reminds her daughter daily that she is being extremely helpful and that she actually likes her now, but Vendetta stopped responding maybe about a year into the experiments.

When Vendetta eventually gets with Wonderworks, her suddenly sprouting wings does turn a few heads. A few more heads turn when she goes, "Goddammit, not again." and proceeds to rip them off with her teeth. The wound is then healed in a day or so, leaving onlookers wondering whether what they saw was real at all.

Starlight just can't rest until she becomes the pony version of a mad scientist in a Lovecraft story! Vendetta isn't paid enough for this. Though it's funny to think how Wonderworks tecnically has a part-time alicorn on their payroll.

And with this slight change in colours she looks so much like Moondancer, it actually creeps me out.
